I wake up the next morning, and begin to get ready. I put on a green shirt, jeans, and converse. Today, I decide not to use my wheelchair. I don't need it. I don't plan on using it again. I take my meds and put on my brace.
I go to the kitchen where Christian is. "Where's Christian?", I ask. "He's refusing to eat. Also, have you noticed that he's losing weight?", Tt asks. "No.", I say. "He's losing a lot of weight. A few weeks ago, he was 50 pounds. He's dropped down to 46 pounds.", Sean says. "There has to be something going on. This is more than just sick. "I'm going to take him to the emergency room.", I tell Sean.
Sean decided to come with us to the emergency room. We're waiting, and Christian is having trouble breathing. "This isn't asthma.", I tell Sean. "How do you know?", Sean asks. "Because he isn't wheezing.", I say. "HEY! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY! OUR LITTLE BROTHER ISN'T BREATHING, AND IT ISN'T ASTHMA!", Sean screams.
Five minutes later, we're back in a room, and talking to a doctor. "So, what's the problem?", the doctor asks. "Well, he hasn't been eating, and he's losing weight. Also, he's been having trouble breathing.", I say. "So is this your child?", the doctor asks. "NO!", Sean and I both exclaim. "This is my little brother.", I explain to the doctor. "Okay, has anyone in the family had or have cancer?", the doctor asks. "I don't think so, why?", I ask, even though it was more of a statement. "Because, I think he has lung cancer. We're going to take him back for an x-ray, but we're going to have to ask you to stay here.", the doctor explains. Great. Christian is taken back for an x-ray, and I get a text message.
Unknown Number
Anna, I'm not stupid. Moving to Chicago isn't going to change things. I am still going to take you back to California, which is where you belong. Oh, and I do hope that Christian has lung cancer. Also, you could be in Antarctica right now, and it still wouldn't be too far for me to kidnap you. I love you.
I gasp after I finish reading it, and Sean notices. "Is everything okay?", Sean asks. "No. Read this.", I say, and hand Sean my phone. "This isn't good.", Sean says. "You're telling me.", I say.
Thirty minutes later, Christian is back, and they already have the results. "Anna, can I speak with you outside?", the doctor asks, and I nod my head. I walk outside. "It's worse than we thought. Christian has stage three lung cancer, and the cancer is quickly spreading. I'm sorry.", the doctor tells me. I walk back inside, tears streaming down my face. "What is it?", Sran asks. "Stage three lung cancer, quickly spreading.", I say, barely making out the words. I begin to cry much harder now, and I cry into Sean's chest. Sean wraps his arms around me, and lets me cry. I don't want to be a part of this cruel world anymore. The only reason I'm staying is because of Christian. But if cancer does take him, I'm leaving. I will go pay my parents, Caleb, and Christian a permanent visit.
We go home with an oxygen tank for Christian. I just can't believe this. Kyle is going to have to do chemotherapy every Saturday, and take a bunch of medicine every day. We will also have a nurse come here and take care of him during the day. I still can't believe this.
I don't eat dinner, and neither does Sean. Christian doesn't eat either. Christian is too sick, and Sean and I are too depressed. Sean has already moved most of the stuff in, but we still have to unpack everything.
That evening, Sean comes and sits on my bed, as usual. "I hate this cruel world!", I tell Sean. "I know.", Sean says. "Everything about me or around me is being torn apart. Caleb died, I'm still having to deal with my stepmother, and Christian is dying. Everything is being taken away from me! Caleb, my parents, and soon to be Christian. With the way things are going, either you're going to leave me, or I'm going to lose you. And I definitely don't blame you if you do leave me. I mean, no one wants a girlfriend who has to deal with nothing but tragedy in her life.", I say, angrily. "Come here.", Sean says. I come and sit by Sean. He wraps his arms around me, which always makes me feel like I'm safe. "Listen, I love you, and there's no changing that. Right now, I'm here, and you're here. I'm not going to leave you purposely. I would have to die for me to leave you. If I leave, you're coming with me, and so is Christian.", Sean says. I cry into his arms, and fall asleep the best way to fall asleep. In Sean's arms.
I wake up in the middle of the night, thanks to a nightmare. The nightmare was about everyone leaving me, and I was the only one left. I'm thankful it was just a dream.
I go into Christian's room, to make sure he's alive and breathing. He is, thankfully, and has enough oxygen. I'm just so afraid of him leaving. I decide it's time for his meds. He has to take pills in the morning, afternoon, and about midnight. "Christian! Christian! Wake up!", I whisper. Christian wakes up slowly, and is tired. "Yes?", he asks. "It's time to take your medicine.", I say. "I don't like taking medicine.", Christian says. "Neither do I. I have to take medicine every morning. But, it will make you feel better!", I explain to Christian. "Okay.", Christian says. "Would you like something to drink?", I ask him. "Yes please. May I have some milk?", Christian asks. "Yes.", I tell him. I go to the kitchen to pour a glass of milk for Christian. "Here you go!", I say, as I hand him his glass of milk. I give him his medicine, and then I go to my room, so I can get some rest.
