Tate
Vladimir gets here early the next morning. Once he got my message he didn't waste any time getting to my home to talk to me about it. When he got here my men informed me he had people hidden in the woods probably in case this meeting goes bad. We decided to leave them in the woods where they are but every single man he had out there had two of my men watching him.
Walking into my office and seeing Vladimir sitting in the seat I can already tell this isn't going to go well by the way he is acting.
"Good Morning Tate." He says while smiling at me.
"Thank you for responding to my message so quickly." I say while taking my seat across from him.
"Well when the Alpha of the oldest pack in America summons you it's not something you ignore." He says not sounding pleased when he says my title.
I grin at him before pulling out a file that has images of the wolf that attacked Haven in it and hand them to Vladimir. When he opens them and looks over the images I see him freeze for a second before acting like these images don't mean anything to him.
"What am I looking at?" He asks placing the images on my desk and eyeing me.
"This is a wolf who said he was sent by you to attack Haven, which is something I can't ignore." I tell him.
"Well I would never send anyone to hurt Haven, she has done nothing to me. Tell me is she okay?" He asks me making my wolf growl in my head by just hearing this man say her name.
"She is fine. But that's not what we are discussing. We are talking about the fact this wolf told me he was sent here to attack her on your order. I want to know the truth Vladimir because I don't want a war on my hands but I am not afraid to go ahead and start one if people in my pack are being threatened and hurt. So tell me, should I ready the hounds?" I ask him and watching him gulp and a little sweat form by his eyebrows.
"Why would I want to start a war with you Tate?" He asks trying to avoid the question I asked.
"Land, my title. So tell me are you or are you not? I want my answer now Vlad." I tell him not leaving any room for him to try and ask me another question.
"No, I would never do that to you Tate. We are allies and that is not something I would risk." He says but with my werewolf hearing I can hear his heart beating faster indicating he is lying to me just like I expected him too.
"That is good. Our meeting is over now, you can return to your pack lands." I say and he calmly leaves my office.
I listen to his footsteps until I hear the front door being opened then closed. Once he is gone Boyd walks into my office with a grim look on his face. He knows what the outcome of this meeting was from listening from his spot in the hall and knows what this means for the pack.
"We need to prepare for a war with Vladimir, start doubling the training and move as many women and children you can into the castle. Starting from the farthest from here inward, I want everyone as close as they can be to the castle. This isn't going to be good if Vladimir goes through with whatever he is planning." I tell Boyd and he nods before heading off to start putting my plans into action.
Once that's all done I head up to check on Haven and find her still asleep in bed curled around my pillow. My mood instantly improves as I walk closer to her and sit down next to her. Her body immediately moves to get closer to me until her head is on my lap. I start stroking back her hair until she wakes up and smiles up at me with a half-asleep, half-awake look on her face.
"Shouldn't you be working?" She asks me.
"I should but I needed to see you more." I tell her.
She just nods and gets comfortable against me understanding all I need right now is being next to her to calm both me and my wolf down. This war with Vladimir won't be an easy one and I know I will lose good people to it. The fear he will continue to target Haven to get to me is eating at me. If she gets hurt again I don't know what I will do, last time wasn't even that bad of a wound and I almost had a stroke and was seconds away from taking off to Vladimir's pack land to tear him apart for what he did.
Loosing pack members is something we have to learn to understand it will happen, it hurts me every time one of them dies but I am able to move on and learn to be a better Alpha from that but if Haven died I wouldn't be able to move on, she is the one thing that would destroy me if something happened to her. I can't even imagine what I would do if she died. I can already feel my wolf getting antsy with me just thinking about it.
"Whatever happens I know you will come out on top." Haven tells me after a few minutes of silence.
"I hope, because if I don't this time the consequences will be devastating." I mutter to myself more than her.
"Tate don't doubt yourself. You will come out on top, you don't need to hope because it will happen. I know you and know that I am right." She says sitting up next to me and looking me in the eyes.
Before I can respond her mouth is on mine and she is kissing me with all she has. I sit frozen for a few seconds shocked that she is kissing me before I start responding and she quickly straddles me and presses her body against mine. She removes her mouth from mine and starts kissing me on my neck then right next to my ear.
"Mark me." She whispers into my ear and instantly I feel my wolf start to go crazy.
"Are you sure?" I say through gritted teeth, just those words from her has my wolf wanting to take control but I have to make sure she has no doubt about this or us before doing it because once we do there is no going back.
"I think I'm in love with you, and I know I want this, I want you." She tells me.
"I'm in love with you and want you too." I say before placing my mouth against her neck and biting down.
