Chapter One~ Creepy Guy

Today it will be nine years... nine years since my mothers death.... nine years since my godfather (whos is also my uncle) let me be taken away.....

Nine years since my father went to Azkaban.

I would be turning ten tonight, through no body would know of course, as im what the only girl who has seen me calls, a ghost.

But, im not dead, and i told her this many times. I watched as this same girl was dragged out side by her chained collar and chained to the dog house in the rain of the summer, but is was suposed to be really cold tonight. I honestly felt bad for her, but what could i do? Nothing thats what. The lights went out around the streets out side the barbeed wire fence and i noticed a sliver bearded man walk right byt them, as if they wernt there. He talked to the girl and i saw the girls grey haired talk to the man as well, before they disappered.

Lucky them, i thought sadly, and scooted away from the window. I fiddled with the locket around my neck, one of the few things i had from my mother, besides the stuffed wolf whom i still called Moony in memory of my Godfather. I stll loved him, even if he didnt love me back.

My rooms door opened, and i turned to see Mrs. Kingsdon, and fell backwards off my bed. Mrs. Grey was very nice to me but... Mrs. Kingsdon hates me beyond reconition.

"Get up stupid girl, and make your self look nice, some one is coming to adopt," she hissed and smacked me hard on the back of the head, making me slam my head onto the cold stone ground, before leaving the room, slamming the door behind her. I groaned and stood up shakily and dizzily. I went over to my table in the corrner of the room and grabbed one of the least tattered shirts, it was black and had a scratched out picture of a wolf on it. It was a bit big but it fit well enough. I grabbed my black skirt, which was part of my school uniform and put it on as well. I grabbed the small hair brush of the table and attempted to try and brush my hair when the door opened again. I whirled around only to see Mrs.Grey and sighed with relife. She was holding a pretty black shirt with white slowers onit, creating a beautiful floral pattern.

"I thought you might like to wear this with your skirt," She said kindly. I nodded happily as she handed it to me and I quickly changed into it (i didnt mind changing in front of her, she was the one who took care of me).

"Want me to braid your hair?" she asked.

"Yes please," I said.

She braided my hair in the back and tied a ribbon (a black one) at the very end.

"Thank you, Mrs.Grey," i said softly, as i have been taught to be quiet most of my life.

"No problem sweet heart, now lets go down stairs," she said soflty and me and her left the room, heading down stairs to the 'Chosing Room' as the other children had called it. I let go of Mrs. Greys hand and she gave me a reassuring smile before leaving the room. I stood in the very back, not wanting to be called a freak around some one who wants to adopt, in my opinion if he really wants me, he will notice me, so i stayed where i was, in the shadows, thorugh i knew my amber eyes would still shine through the darkness of the shadows. Many of the others stood talller, making me unnoticeable in the shadows as a man walked into the room. He had grasy black hair and black obisiden eyes, as awel las a cloak, just as the half-giant (whom my godfather called 'Hagrid') had worn, except his were torn and a dark brown, while this mans were black and looked very sleek. The man studyed the children with a look of disgust and waved them off just as many others had done. The man had waved the last one off (a little black haired girl by the name of Kimmy) and looked around the room before his eys landed one me.

"You, girl, whats your name?" he growled.

"Lucy," i said softly and stepped out of the shadows, just as Mrs.Kinsdon walked in.

"You didnt like any of the children?" she asked, ignoring my presense.

"Do you not see the only one left?" the man dawled.

She looked at me and sneered, "I only see the freak and the rat in the corrner."

The man glared at her, "I want Lucy."

She looked startled, "Y-You want the freak?"

"Yes," the man snapped, he seemed to be losing his paitence.

She walked ovrer to me and grabbed me by the hair (making me squeak) and threw me out towards him.

"Are you sure you didnt want he rat?" she snarled, pointing to the poor dead creature in the corrner.

"Yes," he growled.

She turned and glared at me, "Stupid girl go and get your things."

I nodded and and got up, running off up the stairs.

"im being adopted!" i squealed happily, tackling Moony on my bed. He wagged his tail under my touch and i realised it happened again.

My stuffed wolf sometimes came to life and over the years Mrs. Kingsdon tried to destroy him but he always came back. I felt the wolf go still again and picked him up as well as my torn purple back pack and began to stuff my clothes and hair brush inside. I hugged my wolf to my chest as i pulled on my pale grey sweater and pulled on my scuffed up converse (Of course they are black) and ran back down the stairs again. The man signed a paper just as i came down, and he glared at me.

"Come," he growled and i followed him out of the orpahange, my stuffed wolf im my arms.

We walked down the street and through a couple blocks when the man stopped, me stopping right at his side. We were by a old park, and the man stared longly at it before looking down at me.
