Chapter 13-

Changes

The man was sleeping silently in the chair, still waiting for news on the girl.

No one head come to see her- Not Lupin, Not Albus, not her cousins.

Well except for one person.

Severus Snape sat next to the man, waiting for the same thing the man was- news on the girl.

A healer in her mid thirties walked towards them.

"Mr. Moody, Mr. Snape, Miss Black is awake now," she said in a high pitched voice. Severus felt pained by the sound of her voice, but shook the man beside him- Alastor 'Mad-Eye' Moody- awake next to him.

Mad-Eye jumped and pulled out his wand but didn't attack, realizing where he was.

"Lucy is awake," Snape said cooly, standing up and walking towards the room where Lucy was being held. Mad-Eye followed in suit, but not with our being cautious of his surroundings. Snape opened the white hospital door and entered the blue tinted room. The small brown haired girl sat on the hospital bed reading Quidditch Through the Ages.

"Lucy?" Snape inquired, making her jump.

Lucy looked to Snape and was about to say something when she noticed the interesting eye man. She tilted her head to the side and gave him a questioning look.

Snape noticed and started to explain.

"Lucy, this is Alastor Moody, he was the old head Auror in the Ministrt of magic. I told him that Dumbledore was sending you back there and asked him to watch over you. He agreed, and when he got there.... he found you in that... Ring," Severus said, snarling at the word 'Ring'.

Lucy blinked.

Snape felt confused, Lucy was normally talkative, not silent. Snape penetrated her mind, listening to her thoughts.

Don't speak, speak and your dead, Lucy thought.

Snape felt disturbed, "Your allowed to speak Lucy."

Lucy blinked at him again, though this time she seemed to think over his words.

Mad-Eye stepped forwards.

"I 'new ye mum," He said carefully.

Lucy straightened and stared at the man with genuine curiosity.

"She was a smart girl, I meet her in fifth year- she was only a little third year at the time, but you could tell she was smarter then some of our professors. One day, she tripped during one of the Gryffindor Quidditch games against my house, Hufflepuff. She fell right of her broom, that one, catching the snitch at the moment, and got hit again by out seeker In His own attempt for the snitch," Mad-Eye stopped and chuckled, "I saw the panic flash over Softy Snape over here as well as her brother and his friends. Dolores screamed so loud. I pulled out my wand and placed a cushioning charm below her right before she hit he ground. She thanked me later and we became friends. Such good friends I promised her if I got to be Head Auror I would make her my deputy. And I did, though she didn't get to keep her position long, yet she did her job well. So when Snape told me that her daughter was in danger, well what was a supposed to do? I got you out and now your here."

Lucy looked down at the floor before looking back up at him.

"I know," she said with a rasp.

Mad-Eye looked surprised, "How?"

"Eidetic memory," both she and Snape said at the same time.

"Mum told me that story when I was younger, 'round eight month."

Mad-Eye looked shocked, but quickly covered it up.

"Your a smart kid, your uncle is lucky to have you."

Lucy growled, "I don't want to got back there."

"Why not?" Snape asked.

"He abandoned me twice," Lucy snarled.

Snape nodded understandingly, but a flash of doubt flickered across his features.

"I can't take care of you, Lucy, I have to go to Hogwarts for work," He said apologetically.

Lucy looked disappointed until Mad-Ey spoke, "I can take you in."

Lucy looked up with surprise at the same time as Snape, "Really?"

Mad-Eye gave her a crooked smile, "Your Danni's daughter, of course I will. Plus your a smart kid and I need a friend."

Lucy smiled brightly.

Some things where going to change.

Should Dumbledore allow Lucy to go with Mad-Eye? Or should she have to live with Remus?
