Claire's POV
Diretso lang ang lakad ko sa hallway habang nagt-type sa phone ko. I'm texting ashley kasi we're supposed to meet at the Zerese Restaurant for lunch. But I have an urgent appointment with dean today. Ewan ko ba at bigla niya nalang akong pinatawag. I wonder kung anong kailangan niya sakin.
After informing ashley that I won't be joining her for lunch, I opened the door and entered the dean's office. I saw her reading bunch of papers and when she heard my footsteps, she looked at me.
"Goodafternoon, Claire. Please take a seat." Sabi niya at iminuwestra ang upuan na nasa harap niya. Agad naman akong umupo dun.
"So, what's up?" Tanong ko na para bang ka-edad ko lang siya.
Muli siyang napatingin sakin dahil sa inasal ko ngunit pinagsawalang bahala nalang iyon.
"I have something important to discuss with you." Sumandal siya sa upuan matapos sabihin iyon.
"I know. Hindi mo naman ako papupuntahin dito kung hindi importante iyang sasabihin mo. Come on and spill it right now. As in right now. " May diin na tugon ko sakanya.
Nauubusan na talaga ako ng pasensya. She's wasting my freaking precious time at isa pa, I'm super duper hungry!
"You do know that yearly, we are taking and giving exchange students to other schools right? And you also know that we only choose the best ones dahil hindi naman namin hahayaan na mapahiya ang school natin sa ibang school. Kung napapansin mo rin, those who are on the higher years or levels lang ang kinukuha namin. Hindi kami kumukuha ng newbie kahit pa matalino ito." She paused at may kinuhang papel sa drawer nito."
"And so? How does this issue concern me?" This is getting irritating. Can't she just get straight to the point!
"We have reviewed the grades of every SHS students and we've noticed that you are leading among the rest. You're rank 1 among all your batchmates. That's why we've decided to choose you as our exchange student for this school year."
Tss. No doubt siya talaga ang rank 1 among all. Consistent top 1 kaya siya since kindergarten.
"Oh? What are the benefits that I will get if I accept your offer?"
"Isa lang naman ang makukuha mong benepisyo rito. But this could be a big help to you. Well, dito ka parin naman ga-graduate and we can guarantee you that you'll be graduating as your batch's valedictorian kahit na kakastart palang ng klase. We both know na napaka-dikit ng average niyo ni Riza Salazar and she can beat you in one snap. Papayag ka bang makuha niya ang pagiging valedictorian na pinaghirapan mo since freshmen days? Tandaan mo, this is the last year of your SHS life, dito natin pagbabasehan kung sino ang karapat-dapat maging valedictorian."
Well, its not that bad. At wait, matalo ako ng riza na yon? No freaking way.
"Just sign this contract and we have a deal." Sabi ni dean at inabot sa akin ang isang papel na contract daw at isang ballpen. "Pero kung ayaw mo naman ay kay riza nalang namin iyon i-oofer----" Mabilis na inagaw ko ang contract at ballpen at agad na pinirmahan mo.
"There. You can shut up now." At ibinalik ko na sakanya ang contract and the ballpen. " So, saang school ako mapupunta?" Tanong ko.
"Xard University."
Napanganga ako sa sinabi ni dean. Seriously? Xard University? Dun lang naman nag-aaral ang hottest basketball team of all time. Well, yun ang sabi sakin ni ashley. Di ko pa naman nakikita ang mga itsura non. Pero base sa pagkakakwento ni ashley ay gwapong-gwapo talaga ang mga ito. Mataas kaya ang standard ng babaeng yun pagdating sa mga gwapo.
Mukhang di rin naman ako lugi. Pero ano namang gagawin ko sa mga lalaking yun? Like duh? Boys are just a waste of time. and I. HATE. WASTING. MY. TIME.
"When do I start?" Tanong ko muli.
"Tommorow."
Bakit parang napakabilis naman? Hindi pa sila makapaghintay na mapalayas ako dito sa school na to? I seriously doubt that. Mawawalan lang naman sila ng matalino at syempre magandang estudyante.
Huh whatever.
So, New school huh? I guess I have to deal with new bunch of pathetic people starting tommorow.
