Lost Memories

Chapter Four

Sprinting in the woods I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, dodging trees and jumping over roots, I ran and ran without looking back.

What do those strange people want with me? where am I?......more important....who am I?

I slow down my pace, then hide behind a rock trying to catch my breath. My chest burns from breathing so hard, but I have to do whatever it takes to survive.

" So this is where you decided to hide from us?" said a voice that sent a chill down my spine.

I slowly look up to a demon smiling down at me mischievously. I was speechless, thinking I was going to die I yelped out a cry and quickly scrambled up to my feet and began running down the hill towards the river. Inuyasha and Koga were quickly right behind, As I tried to move faster I tripped on something and that's when I felt one of them gab onto me and rolled down the hill, almost like he was protecting me.

When we stop, Inuyasha slows down at stares at us with a straight line on his face. Quickly he grabs Koga off of me and throws him off to the side. I open my eyes and stare into Inuyasha's eyes. His deep yellow, demon eyes.

My heartbeat started to pick up until I looked at the river, then at Inuyasha, then at Koga. He eyes me and stares intently at me.

" I'm not letting you get away Kagome.....You need to come back or you'll get hurt out here!" he said sternly.

Slowly he stands me up and starts to pull me towards his direction until I tug back my arm from his.

" No! Let go of me!...." I rip my arm out of his grasp and he stares at me wide eyed. " I won't die in your hands, you filthy demon! I'd go to hell before leaving anywhere with you!" I stated furiously.

Inuyasha's expression is blank. He couldn't really say anything. I quickly started to back away and eyed the river again. He finally snapped out of his own personal feelings and stared at me with a nervous expression. " Kagome! don't do it! You'll get hurt!" slowly he walks towards me until I took a step back, quickly I turn and salute him.

" It's been fun, but I should get going...places to go and people to see!" with that I jumped into the water.

When I resurfaced, I tried to swim towards the other side, but for some reason the current in the river was too strong. I started to grow tired really quick.

" Shoot! come on!" I yelled out trying to grab on to tree roots two rocks poking up in the water.

" Kagome!" they both yell.

I look at the two men that were yelling at me and running down the river, I turned my head and started to go crazy because of the waterfall that was ahead. This was a stupid Idea! Inuyasha and Koga quickly run towards the end of the river to where the waterfall was, getting in place to grab me before the drop.

Quickly the waters picked up and I went under water a couple of times, trying to grab onto something, when I gripped onto a rock that had been broken, the current pulled me away and the rock cut my right hand open. I cried out in pain as I drifted closer and closer until finally before the drop, I closed my eyes and that's when someone or something grabbed me. It was Inuyasha.

I cringe from the pain in my hand. Slowly opening my eyes I stare up at the two figures.

" Kagome! don't let go of my hand! and I promise to bring you up!" yelled the boy. I stared into his eyes more carefully and realized that he wasn't a man, he was a young boy...same as the other demon....both looking to be around my age.

My hand starts to slip out of his grip because I'm wet and he tries to grip on.

" Kagome! I need you to give me your other hand!" he yelled down to me.
