"Please welcome to the stage the Validictorian of the 2017 class, Lily Singh!"

We all watch as Lily heads up to the stage.

"Boys and girls, we are gathered here today to witness–Whoops, wrong speech!" This makes the audience laugh. "No, but on a serious note, I-and these fellow classmates-managed to somehow live through high school. And I couldn't be more proud and happy that it was with this group of kids. They continue to show me that anything is possible.
"Growing up, I didn't have a family. My mother died when I was a baby and my father ditched when I was three. It wasn't that they didn't still have their colors, it's just that they didn't have each other. But when I got to high-school, I didn't just find amazing friendships. I found the family I had been wishing for my whole life." She turned to us now. "We did it!" She did a little clap before turning back to the audience and continuing. "We did it. And I would not trade these friendships, these memories, this family, for anything.
"So, now for the part you've all been waiting for! To see your actual family graduate!" Everyone in the audience claps, and I look at Phil, who is 8 people away. We smile and he flashes a thumbs up. I giggle and turn back to the stage.

12 names later, my name is called. I walk toward my diploma. I trip over a microphone wire. Luckily I didn't fall, or I would've just about died. I hear people in the audience chuckling. I do a quick wave at the giggling audience before continuing the walk down to my diploma. Inside, I am dying of the cringe of the situation.

I want to actually implode.
I am actually going to implode.

Thankfully, I manage to get my diploma without falling or anything of the sort on the way, or after the fact. Phil is next. He walks, glides, across the stage. Takes his diploma, shakes a hand. Suddenly he's running off the stage and into my arms, I kiss him, and we smile.

"We did it, Phil. We did it." I whisper to him. We kiss again and wait for the others of our group to come. Louise walks like she always does, like the princess she is. Pj walks giggling about something Chris had said, and Chris forgets to take his diploma when he walked across the stage. We all boo'd him when he got off.

"Whatever! I was super nervous!"

"I can't believe you had to go back for it!" Louise cry-laughed.

"Will you just shut up about it?" Chris said, playfully shoving Louise. "At least I didn't trip on the stage!" Everyone nodded and laughed.

"Phil!" I said to my laughing boyfriend, "You are supposed to be on my side!"

"Why?" He said, in between spurts of laughter,"So I can catch you next time you fall?" Everyone cracked him and I fake-pouted.

"Yo guys shouldn't make fun of me, it's not my fault I'm clumsy and physically unstable!"

"Actually, it is." Phil responded, pecking my cheek. "But that's what I love about you."
