Chapter 3

Dantooine, Jedi Enclave

Two days after Jax's Return

Standing next to Ferox, Ashabellanar keeps her eyes downcast as Master Zhar chastises them for their antics. "Ashabellanar I expect better than this from you. First letting your emotions get the better of you and yet again pulling one of your disappearing acts. Then this!" He gestures towards them both. "How do you expect to ever take your trials if you keep behaving like this!"

Blanching at the comment Ashabellanar wills her emotions to stay at bay. They wouldn't withhold my trials. Not over something like this? Would they...? It was a horrifying idea, one that only Ferox knew truly terrified her.

"It was my fault Master," Ferox declares beside her. "I aggravated several Kath Alphas on our return." No...I did. She bitterly corrects. But Ferox would never tell them that. "Ashabellanar and I have been outrunning them for miles."

Chancing a glance up Ashabellanar notes the skepticism in Master Zhar's eyes. "Ferox I'm disappointed. You are a Knight and must behave as such. Such half-truths and sentiments..." Master Zhar cuts off and pinches the bridge of his nose. "Report to Master Vandar, Ferox. Tell him I am recommending you for his off-planet mission." Sensing his instant frustration Ashabellanar snaps her head up and momentarily meets his gaze. Peace. I'll be fine, go.... She attempts to convey to him with her gaze. Clenching his jaw Ferox nods sharply in acknowledgement before departing the area in search of Master Vandar.

Dantooine, Jedi Enclave

Over a week after his return

A week had gone by since the incident with Ferox and Ashabellanar in the courtyard. Since then Jax had kept himself hidden from her sight. It was silly he knew but he wished to observe her new fighting style without being its target. That though seemed to be impossible for he soon discovered one of Master Zhar's punishments for her was to disallow her training of others. Observing her though soon became a pastime of his when he wasn't researching for his mission. That in itself became an intriguing game of cat and mouse to him. After all she was keen in the Force and more than once he found himself nearly caught by her. Such games though had given him insight into her. Or perhaps confused him more if he truly admitted it to himself. She's not at all like I remember. She used to be.... vivacious. Came to mind. Now though she just seemed...he wasn't sure.

Sighing beside him during his latest game of cat and mouse Alek says, "Really Jax. Must you play this childish game with her?" Beside him Jax waves a hand at him to be silent. Before them Ashabellanar moved gracefully through the other Jedi. Like usual though she never interacts with them unless it seemed necessary. "By now she must be aware of our presence. Even without these games of yours."

I don't know... Usually he'd agree with Alek on this. Jedi Enclaves after all were full of Jedi Masters, Knights, Padawans and younglings. All of which knew of their presence. But since he'd been observing her Ashabellanar had rarely interacted with others. In fact, it's as if she isn't really here, he observes.

"A ghost of herself," Master Vandar declares beside him, making Jax nearly jump had he not just sensed the Master's arrival seconds before.

"What made her this way?" Jax softly whispers, his eyes still on her.
