Fear Itself [ A Shoey Fanfic ]

|| Shane's P.O.V ||

blinking lights. soft beeping noises. throbbing coming from my hand. my eyes blinked slowly, i felt dizzy, contained and trapped.

i tried to breathe slowly, as if this was all just a wild, stupid dream. that Lisa and i were happy together, Joey and i were friends, and i was a YouTube success.

YouTube. ahh. i remembered it.

though i could barely breathe, i managed to slip out these small words, very softly.

"where is joey."

the nurse next to me jumped and then turned, spooked. she looked at me and shook her head then scribbling down something on her clipboard with the red pen in her hand.

i tried to move but felt the needle pumping fluids into my body. an IV.

i tried to move my arm to pull it out, but then the nurse grabbed me and pushed me onto the bed gently but firmly injecting me with more sedatives. i managed to mutter "joey" about twice before i went under again.

i woke up again, not aware of what time it was, or where i was. this time, the doctor was sitting next to me, patting my shoulder softly and motioning the nurse to open the door.

the nurse, suited in her thin turquoise uniform calmly walked over to the door, turning the golden knob and pulling it open, checking who it was before pulling it all the way open.

it was Joey.

there, standing in the doorway of a hospital room, was my love. i couldn't contain myself. i wanted to jump up and hug him.

he sported nothing but his cell phone in hand.

the nurse looked at him and motioned that he had 10 minutes, and the doctor and nurse left the room.

Joey sat down next to me, on the small, spinning doctors chair. he pulled up close to me and stroked my forehead, sending chills through my body.

"hey, Shane. how are you doing buddy?" he said sweetly.

unable to respond, i nodded and smiled weakly.

he brushed the bangs out of my face, then leaning back into his chair. i felt like i may be slipping under again soon.

i grabbed joeys hand and nodded, my eyes starting to droop. he stood up and kissed my forehead, then left.

had joey just almost kissed me?
