This chapter was rewritten (probably my five millionth draft) and I'm way more happy with it now...
and yeah i said it would be done by Sunday SORRY there was no way that was happening.-
After the conversation, Scott had almost forgotten why he was in the same room for so long. He sunk into his chair in happy thoughts, closing his eyes and trying to get slightly comfortable. However, that didn't last long, as his attention was quickly diverted to small movements beside him. Hours and hours later from passing out, Link was showing signs of coming round.
Link grew to like Scott's voice, so he was hoping hearing it would help him awake. When he rushed and looked over him, all he could see were small arm twitches, and nothing else.
"Link, come on," Scott chanted growing impatient. Soon after he began squirming around the bed like he was trapped in a nightmare, and kept his eyes screwed shut and his mouth tight. Scott reached his hands out and held Link's lightly, tracing circles and holding off from calling for more nurses in. Beads of sweat were falling down Link's forehead, and Scott wiped them away whilst comforting him more.As Scott held Link down, all that ran though his head was what he had been told about Link. When he was with him, nothing else really seemed to matter and the opinions became irrelevant. He wanted to believe Link was good, and in his eyes he was perfect. Seeing him in pain made Scott feel so guilty and upset, yet from what he knew you'd expect him to be happy about it. In the few short weeks Scott worked with Link, he was falling from him.. too much.
Scott kept hold of Link as he fell into a deep sleep breathing heavily through his nose from the oxygen mask. It must have been a bad dream, but Scott was convinced his sweet nothings into Link's ear were helping calm him down.
Without hesitation, Scott brought himself down to Link's arms and placed short, sweet kisses on his wrists and hands. They felt cold and lifeless, although he was still alive with the machines around them showing proof. Scott fell into a rhythm trailing up and down Link's pale arms, all outside noises were gone.
"Hey, Char-" an unknown voice called from just outside the doorway. Rhett had finally arrived, ready to tell Charlotte what he saw, only to be greeted by Scott right over his best friend. And to his surprise, Scott had no intention of stopping, as he had not even noticed he was there.
In pure anger Rhett slid off his backpack and it hit the floor with a thud, and finally Scott's head whipped round to see the tall man charging towards him.
"What.. the.. f-" Rhett screeched, grabbing Scott from behind and chucking him off the bed, barely giving a glance to Link after. Scott's heart was pounding but he wouldn't dare show it, and he scrambled to his feet to confront the now fuming Rhett."Why the hell are you here, Rhett?" he argued. Rhett stared right into his eyes, trying to figure out what he was going to say to the liar in front of him. Both were panting from shock, and neither could find words to yell at each other.
Rhett turned back to see Link lying asleep, and then looked back at Scott who still hasn't spoke at all.
"Why the hell did nobody call me that Link is unconscious again?"
"Rhett you know you aren't meant to be here-"
Scott ran his fingers through his hair as he waited for a reply. His sleeve rolled down revealing his sparkling gold watch, which took Rhett's attention as he tried to imagine how much it must have cost.
"Isn't that besides the point?" Rhett spat. "Are you purposely telling me to stay home... so you can.. f-"Rhett was unable to finish his sentence from Scott powering forwards and throwing a fist at his face, only narrowly missing his cheek. Although Scott was shorter than Rhett, he still stood against him and tried again, but being blocked by Rhett and pushed off.
All the commotion echoed through the room, and that's when Link began to quietly stir in the bed behind Rhett. Both of them had completely forgot he was actually there, so it came as a shock to them both.
Scott dashed over to Link's side but not making the mistake of trying to touch him in Rhett's presence, which in the end was a good thing for him. It was easy to tell Link was slowly waking, and Scott needed Rhett gone.
"Leave." Scott ordered with a low, intimidating tone. Rhett wanted to find Charlotte, comfort Link, and also beat up Scott horribly all at the same time, and all the thoughts clouded over as he backed away maintaining eye contact with Scott scowling at him.
Rhett said no words and turned in the other direction, quickly scooping his bag from the floor and ran out calling Charlottes name frantically. Scott was surprised he left, but now all he needed was to make sure Link wasn't scared.
He cupped Link's head in his hands, and swept away his hair from his eyes and placing small delicate kisses around him. Link's eyes slowly opened, and Scott could sense his fear.
"You're okay, you're okay," Scott repeated, caressing him as he gained his breath and kept watching Scott. Link was trying to say some words, and even though they were muffled they were still understandable."W-s - tha.. Rh-" he choked, and Scott rubbed his bottom lip with his thumb.
"He's gone, you're safe."Scott stayed right by Link's side as they both listened to the distant echoes of Rhett charging down the corridors calling for Charlottes name. Scott's heart hadn't slowed down, as he tried to recover by staring at Link who stared at him back like a lost puppy. His very short therapy was taking effect quicker than he thought.
You're safe.
