Writing the sort of scenes you'll see in this chapter are difficult but honestly I think my writing is improving and it's really crucial to the plot. Also I have a new phone (iPhone 6s+ if you're curious) and the bigger screen is so nice to write on so hopefully it will motivate me to write some more.
This is my favourite chapter I've ever wrote of anything btw. I'm proud of me for once = )
Warning - desc of fighting & blood
-Unsuspecting patients, doctors and visitors quickly glanced at Rhett, who was now sprinting down every last corridor looking for Charlotte tirelessly, but didn't bother to ask him if he was okay. You'd think she'd be easy to spot with her large, orange curls and wide infectious smile, but as Rhett went down the main ward for the sixteenth time, he came to realise Charlotte was not anywhere. The adrenaline Rhett had when he left Link's room slowly died out, leaving him standing in the middle of the waiting room, horribly regretting leaving Link alone with Scott after what he walked in on moments before.
Rhett had a painful gut feeling Scott was up to no good, and the colour drained from his face as he bolted back to room 403, preparing himself in case he saw the worst.
When Rhett was gone, Scott tried his best to calm down Link who was quietly moaning in worry. The commotion was too much and he was gripping onto Scott's hand as he soothed him with quiet words. There was nothing Scott was happier about than seeing Link awake, even though he wasn't in the best shape. But if Rhett was to charge back into the room, he would not be pleased in the slightest.
Link's eyes looked an even deeper shade of blue than usual as he stared right into Scott's, who's were a brown-hazel colour. He could sense the emptiness in them, and ever so slightly see moisture forming in the sides.
"No, no don't worry," Scott cooed, holding Link as he slowly cried into his shoulder. All he felt was confusion, and a faint memory of a tall blond who he saw everyday.. until Scott arrived.."Where the hell is Charlotte?"
Both heads jolted round to see Rhett right back at the door, even more angry than he originally was. As Scott watched Rhett, and Rhett watched Scott back, there was no denying the tension between them and how mad Rhett certainly was.
Seeing Scott back all over Link was the last straw, and the only thing Rhett had on his mind was to give Scott a taste of his own, sick blood. Literally.Once again, he charged forwards and with all his force, he grabbed Scott by the waist and threw him off Link, who was now hiding the lower half of his face under his sheets as he watched in horror.
Scott fell to the floor for a second, to be quickly pulled up by the collar and shoved against the wall and held around the neck. Rhett smirked as he saw the veins in Scott's neck rise, but Scott hadn't given up. He attempted to swing his arms round Rhett's head, but failed when his hands were blocked by his side with Rhett's legs and they eyed each other directly.
"The moment I saw you in the corridor those weeks ago, I knew you were a low class piece of dirt," Rhett scowled, raising his fist to Scott and giving him a firm punch in the cheek, followed by kicks in the shins. Rhett heard soft whimpers come from behind him, but didn't dare to look round because he knew it would absolutely break him to see Link terrified of the drama. He tried to concentrate on the satisfying feeling of watching Scott in agony, which twisted his mind purely from that.
"All you wanted me gone for was so you could hook up with Link, and you know it," Rhett said swinging again and again. Rhett was out of control, but it felt so good. Nobody could manipulate Link in such a way and get away with it, but with Scott's genius plan of 'intense therapy' and keeping Rhett away from the hospital was a scary move. Scott's mixed laughs with hitches in his breathing was also scary in a way too.
Blood slowly trickled from Scott's nose as he gained back his senses and tried to defend himself.
"Link trusts his life with me, look behind you, he's terrified of you now," he struggled out, gasping for breath as he smiled eerily. Rhett really didn't want to have to see Link's face because he knew it would be plastered with fear but the temptation was too much. He quickly peered behind his shoulder, and he felt every part of his head, and heart break.Link was in a state. His tears had completely run out, his glasses were lopsided, and in his grasp he had the maroon sweater he hadn't even looked at in weeks. His eyes were cold as ice, and felt like needles in Rhett's own. His mouth fell open, from embarrassment, fury, and sadness, and everything in between. He couldn't continue.
Rhett turned back to Scott who had a sly grin on him, even though his face was knocked up and all the blood had cut off circulation. Rhett instantly let go of Scott and he fell right onto the floor, unable to hold his own weight as he battled to not loose consciousness. It wasn't good timing for that.
Rhett felt as if there were anchors attached to his feet, making him unable to move. His eyes couldn't be taken off Link, whose little heart was pumping quicker and quicker and had no idea what to do. He still had his oxygen mask on his face, and he was breathing heavily out of it. Almost nothing had ever felt more painful to Rhett than seeing Link like this, and all he wanted was to get him away. Away from the scum that was Scott Hudson now lying on the floor listening to every word Rhett was about to say.
"I'm getting you out of here," he spontaneously said, quickly over to Link and carefully taking off all the equipment and tubes and smoothing out Link's messy hair. Link was unable to move, and lay still as Rhett worked around him. His lip was quivering until the last needle was taken away and he was free.
Before he did anything else, Rhett searched around the room trying to find something Link didn't know about. After darting around almost everywhere, he saw what he wanted poking out of Scott's bag. The book he had gifted to Link for Christmas.
He took it out and looked over to Scott, shaking his head in annoyance, then putting it into his own backpack and swinging it on his shoulders. He checked around, making sure he needed nothing else, before returning to the bed and scooping Link up in his arms, ready to carry him out.
Link held onto the sweater, and cuddled himself against Rhett's warm torso. Tiny marks of Scott's blood were visible on his shirt, but that was irrelevant now. Rhett held tightly onto Link, who was still wearing his hospital gown, and kissed him delicately on the head.
"I'm taking you home."
Luckily, there was a fire escape door right outside Link's room, so nobody had to see Rhett carrying him out. He opened the door with a free hand, and closed it with his foot, carefully taking Link through and down the many metal stairs on the side of the building. This was all that needed to be done.
However, they weren't going to get away that easily.
Scott still laid against the wall with a light puddle of his blood around him, as he chuckled evilly like a cartoon villain. His chuckles grew louder, and more ear-piercing. He felt barely any pain from his face as it had become almost numb, but he was happy. Sickeningly happy.
Scott knew where they were heading.
Home.
