Sorry for the long wait again, on we go

"Go back?"

Link looked shyly at Rhett with a tilted face, a bit confused from his word choice. Then it occurred to Rhett that Link had no idea what he was talking about, and that he'd have to explain the past back. Every.. last.. detail. It was only fair on him to do so, after keeping it all so dark and mysterious for so long. Rhett's eyes moved to the fallen television in the corner, thinking maybe he had an idea to see how bad Link's memory really was. He swiftly pushed some of the blankets he was under to Link, and went towards the TV to see what he could do.

As Rhett reached over to grab the screen from behind the stand, he noticed straight away her face was still frozen on the screen. Some pixels were going crazy on the edges of the monitor, flashing purples and greens repeatedly. But most of the picture was seeable enough, even though it was now only black and white from the fall.

Link watched on as Rhett lifted it up onto the stand, messing around with the remote to try and make it more clearer. Each button he pressed that did nothing irritated him more and more, until he ended up letting it drop to the ground with a bump. No words came out of Link, and he just watched Rhett point towards the girl and look back at him.

"D-do you know this w-woman?"

Rhett mentally cursed himself for stuttering so pathetically. This was important yet he was letting his nerves show through. He needed to know seriously if Link remembered her, and if he did he could fall back into old habits. Habits Rhett hoped Link would not have anymore.

Rhett kept moving his finger between the still image of Christy on the screen, and Link, who was huddled under all the spare blankets and hoodies looking quite lost.
"Do you n-not know her, at all?" he asked again, understanding Link probably didn't as if he did, he would have said already. He still gave him a chance to answer though, whilst Link squinted at Christy trying to search his brain for the name.

"I-I'm sorry, I don't," he replied, in a whisper.
He didn't know.

Rhett contemplated even trying to explain to Link why he was in the hospital for so long anymore. Would it be worth it? Or would it be best to just forget it all like Rhett had tried doing for ages and carry on life? Thinking about if he should, he remembered the day he visited the hospital to see Link, and they began to talk about it. Link was curious, after seeing all the families in the waiting room and not knowing about his own. It was unfortunate they were interrupted whilst under the mistletoe, but this reassured Rhett and helped him decide that yes, he was going to tell Link.

With that, Rhett sighed and returned to the couch next to Link. He moved around, getting under the comfy nest Link created and held his warm mug between his hands, sipping gently at the minty herbal tea inside. Link had a fuchsia coloured fruit drink that he reached over and picked up, copying Rhett's actions before they both put them back down and a silence fell between them. There was only a light buzz from the heater on the wall filling the void.

"Link, remember that time a few weeks ago I came to see you, and we began to talk about your wife?" Rhett asked.
"Uh, yeah, a little bit," Link spoke quietly, as he usually did. He saw images of Scott coming after them whilst they were inches apart from each other, and remembering how scared he was at the time of him. That was before Link grew comfortable around Scott, and started to enjoy the regular trust exercises and make out sessions they shared. It simply made Link feel a bit more wanted, as Rhett had disappeared for so long. Even sitting next to Rhett on the couch was strange, and he was unsettled from seeing what he did to Scott. But there was still a bit of common sense in Link's head, as he knew Rhett would never, ever hurt him like that. The look he gave when he turned around from punching Scott just proved it.

Link sort of understood why Rhett did what he did to Scott, but not completely. He thought Rhett would be okay with Scott trying to make him better, but apparently not. Link wanted to ask why he did it, but he held off as he sensed Rhett wanted to talk seriously for a bit.

Rhett took a long breath and prepared himself.
"Link, I'm going to explain everything. Why you were at the hospital, who that woman is on the television, how we are so close, and why I care for you more than I ever did."

"Okay," Link sniffled.
