~Chapter 21~
(Edited)

With Marc's tiny light illuminating the room, I remember just how large the Russian guy is. His hard muscles ripple underneath his tattooed skin as he picks himself up off the floor and ends up towering over me. Seeing the size differences between the two of us, I feel an overwhelming burst of acceleration and pride.

I totally just kicked his butt.

A large smile is plastered across my face as the Russian Giant looks down at me with one of his eyebrows raised.

"Impressive, Feya." His deep voice vibrates the still air between us. "Next time, shoot first." I raised my own eyebrow at him, silently asking if he was serious. His dark eyes narrow at me while he points to Marc behind me. "You turned your back on him, pointing a gun at me. You left yourself open to attack."

"True, but," I pause to point my finger over to the dark corner where the lowest of growls is coming from.

Marc moves the direction of his flashlight to the corner. "I'm not alone," I say once they see Jay standing there with the barrel of his rifle pointing towards the door where Marc is standing. Max is right beside him with his body crouched close to the floor, just waiting for the command to attack.

Jay glances at me, waiting for me to confirm we're safe with them, so I give him a small nod. He lowers the gun and tells Max to stand down.

"Well, Raven, looks like we've gotten a little rusty," Marc comments to his friend who just answers with a huffing noise. "So, what brings you to our neck of the woods?" Marc asks while moving into the room, making sure to shut the door behind him.

"We're running low on medical supplies."

Which reminds me. I slide my backpack down my arms and reach inside for one of the alcohol wipes and a bandage. I turn back to the Russian Giant and hand him both items

"Here." I give him an apologetic smile. "Sorry for hurting you."

"Spasibo, Feya," he rumbles in Russian before taking the items. Turning, he takes a sit on a couch pushed up against the far wall from us, and I feel a ping of familiarity when I see another couch plus a few sofa chairs next to it.

Enough space for nine people.

I quickly reach into my pocket and find my flashlight. Clicking it on, I move the light up on the wall to find the painting Gabriel did of a window looking out on a sunny beach with palm trees and white sand.

This is Sean's office, I think as memories flood in of the last time I was here. Ironically, it was the same day I first met Marc, and Sean had me pull that nail out of his leg.

It was also the same day Volto stole Owen's car and took me on a little 'joy ride.' He tried to get me to see the Academy as an evil place filled with people only out to use me, but unfortunately for him, it did the opposite.

He only spiked my curiosity about the secretive Academy which got me to ask more questions. Now, I'm about to be one of those people he tried to warn me about.

I shake the memories away when I feel someone nudging my arm. Looking up, I see Jay carefully holding out my Ka-Bar knife to me and I take it with a whisper of thanks.

I carefully sliding it inside its sheath on my right leg then look over to see that while I was spacing out Marc made his way over to Sean's desk, searching through each drawer.

"What are you looking for?" I ask him as I watch him reach his arm all the way in the top right drawer.

"A jammer," Marc answers as he moves on to the next drawer. "It's a black device about the size of a cell phone."
