***FRANKIE'S POV***
"You don't have to talk," I said quietly, beginning to understand his point. "I get it. Unless you want to talk."
J.D sighed and nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "I just," he started. "You're different than the girls in New York."
"So?" I whispered, stepping closer to him. "What's wrong with different?"
"You're just..." he shrugged and accepted that I was inches away from him. "You're fearless. I mean, you say what you want. You don't care what other people think." He spoke slowly and softly.
"You don't either," I told him. "You're just more comfortable saying what you want without anyone knowing it's you."
"I'm a coward," he mumbled, and I shook my head. "I hide from everyone because I don't want to break the rules. Yanno? And liking a girl at a school where I'll get my ass beat if I so much as look at her the wrong way."
"But we are the rules," I said quietly, and he smiled softly. "Who's the song for?" I asked.
J.D bit his lip nervously. I knew, and he knew his gesture told me. My heart leaped into my chest and I took a step back.
"Um," I mumbled nervously. "Uh, I gotta go." I began to step back further, and he grabbed my wrist.
"Wait," he said quickly. "I, um. I can talk. I want to talk to you."
"I can't," I admitted, my voice shaking slightly. "Just let me-"
"Look at me," he whispered, nervously taking my hands into his.
He held them loosely, and we were again inches apart.
"I was hoping it was you," I admitted quietly, and his breath hitched. "All the girls say the only people I've had a crush on in a good year are you and Red. What a coincidence you're the same person."
Jason's hair tickled against my forehead slightly, and we continued to look at each other. He licked his lip, nervous. Wondering what he was supposed to do. I could read him clearly. I looked away from him and down at his chest. He was a lot bigger than I would've guessed. He was built well, strong but not so muscular that it was kind of gross. I looked back up at him and he ducked his head slightly around mine. I let out a sharp breath, and he kissed me. As I let go of his hands and fluttered my eyes closed, someone yelled.
