I pulled away from him quickly, my heart beating fast, and looked in the direction the shout came from. Out in the bushes were Ethan and Jake. Of course.
"What do you want?" I yelled back at them, stepping away from Jason.
"Oh you're in real shit now," Jake said, walking past me and towards J.D.
"Jake, leave the kid alone," I demanded. "The hell did he do?"
"You know what he did," Ethan taunted. "You just let him do it. You know the rules, baby. Heathers are jock property."
"Well maybe I'm sick of being property," I snapped, as Jake closed in on J.D. "Jacob Nicholas Demiera if you lay one finger on that boy I will make your life a living-"
Jason let out a loud grunt as Jake shoved a first into his stomach.
"Jake!" I yelled, trying to pull him away from Jason.
"You want me to leave him alone, you come with us," Jake said, smirking.
I swallowed hard and looked at J.D. He was doubled over, holding his stomach, and he shook his head.
"Frances, don't," J.D said to me. For some reason, "Frances" coming out of his mouth didn't bother me.
J.D wasn't small, but he couldn't take them both at once. I closed my eyes tight and grew tense. "Okay," I said quickly to Jake, and then I opened my eyes again.
The two of them backed away from Jason, and put their arms around my shoulders. As they lead me around the side of the house, I turned my head quickly to see J.D sitting against the sliding door, his head in his hands.***HEATHER CHANDLER'S POV***
"They did what to you?!" I shouted, as Frankie sat, curled up against Heather McNamara in a mess of tears.
"It could've been worse," she hiccuped, trying to pretend she was fine. "If Johnny hadn't been driving home it would've been."
"I don't care that they didn't get to complete their little plan!" I yelled. "It's fucking sick! Look at you! You have bruises on your arms, huge ass hickeys on-"
"Heather," Frankie pleaded, and I stopped talking. "I just want to take a shower."
I nodded as she stood up and walked out of the room. A small whimper escaped her lips, followed by a sniffle.
"What're you gonna do?" McNamara asked me. "You're not like she is. You can't just go barging in on them and yelling."
"Yes I can," I said, taking a deep breath. "Those two have crossed the fucking line."
"Did... Did she tell you everything they did?" Heather Duke asked, and I nodded.
"Yeah," I replied, my voice shaking slightly. "And all because she 'broke the rules.'"
"What do you mean?" Duke asked, and McNamara looked confused as well.
"They saw her kissing that Jason kid," I explained, and all the girls smiled wide.
"Really?!" they squeaked, but I put my finger to my lips.
"Shhh," I shushed them. "It's sad. They probably ruined everything for her. You know how Frankie is."
"She's gonna avoid him now," Veronica said quietly, and I nodded. "It's a shame," she continued. "I was the one who showed him around the school. He's quiet but he's a good kid. She'd do well with him."
"Guys," I started, standing up and looking around at them. "I think it's time we chuck those rules."
