Chapter 29: A New Beginning

[Ciera's POV]

I woke up, slightly confused. Everything the previous day seemed like a dream, but no. It was real.

I went onto Twitter, Instagram and Facebook before playing a couple ios games.

When I got bored, my eyes wandered the room. It was a good sized bedroom with a desk, a TV, a bean bag chair, a closet and an attached bathroom.

When I was sure that Marzia and Felix were up, I brushed my hair and walked out into the living room where they were editing videos on the couch.

"Good morning" I said shyly.

They both turned around and smiled at me.

"Hey Ciera, come sit down if you'd like."

I sat in the middle of them, shortly before someone knocked on the door.

Felix got up and answered it. It was 3 guys from the CPS (Child Protective Service)

"Hello, we're looking for Ciera."

"Yes, she's in the living room."

I see them come around the corner. They wanted to bring me outside and ask me a bunch of questions. I agreed and followed them out the door.

[Felix's POV]

As Ciera walked out the door, I turned to Marzia.

"Hey, Hun... Have you ever thought of adopting?"

She looked at me with a smile. "Not really, but I know what you're thinking"

"Yea, I mean think about it. We have a son on the way, we have enough room and we could use the company. Plus, she's really sweet and she's going through a tough time."

"I agree, when she comes in her, ask if if she'd like us to adopt her."

She walked in with a sad face.

"Well, they said that I have to go to the nearby adoption center, since I have no where else to go. Thanks for everything Felix and Marzia."

She ran over and gave Marzia a hug, and then gave me one.

While in mid hug with me, I spoke up.

"Um, Ciera? How would you like if we adopted you?"

Her face instantly lit up. "really?!"

Marzia and I nodded.

"Yes please! I'll be the best daughter I could possibly be!"

The men walked over.

"C'mon Ciera we have to go."

I stepped up to him.

"Would it be possible for us to adopt her?"

"Yes, but one of you would have to go to the adoption centre, and fill out the paper work." (Bc that's totally how adoption works)

"I will" Marzia said from the couch.

"Felix, can you take me to my house so I can pack my things?" Ciera said from behind me.

"Of course, get your shoes on, let's go."

As I pulled up to her driveway, I noticed that the yard was littered with beer bottles. Poor kid.

I followed her inside and into her bedroom, where she immediately started packing her belongings.

She had 3 suitcases and packed them full of her clothes, items and life savings. She stopped and frowned.

"Felix, uh, I have a dog in here."

I didn't see a dog.

"What?"

"There's a dog in that cage over there. I covered it with a blanket so my dad wouldn't find out."

I saw a pink blanket draped over a box in the corner. I removed the blanket to reveal a male, baby, black pug.

"Awe, he's so cute. What's his name?"

"Edgar, I found him on the streets a couple days ago, and I wanted to save him. Can I keep him?"

"Well Maya could use a friend, so I guess you can keep him."

She hugged me.

"Thank you! My dad never let me have a pet!"

I grinned as she finished packing.

"Pewds, if you want to take a look around, feel free. I got nothing to hide in here. Take anything you want, my dad isn't going to be here for a long time."

I noticed her putting a book into her bag.

"Ciera, if you don't mind me asking, what did you just put in there?"

Her face turned red.

"Nothing, why?

I went over and looked down to see a scrap book.

"Mind if I look?"

She smiled slightly. "Go ahead, but don't judge me"

I opened the book and found that It was all about youtubers. The pages were filled with youtubers such as Tyler Oakley, Daily Grace, Anthony, Ian, ect. I flipped to the back to see 4 pages dedicated to Marzia and I.

There was collages of the best memories between me and her. There was also a poem next to a picture of myself.

After my eyes scanned the page, I teared up and turned to her to see that her cheeks were bright pink

I hugged her tightly "c'mon squirt, time to go."

I let her say goodbye to her house and then we dragged her items into the car, along with Edgar.

When we arrived back at our place, Marzia was back and all of the paper work was taken care of. She was our daughter.

I told Marzia about her dog, and then we let Edgar out of his cage, and him and Maya clicked. They started rolling around on the floor with each other. It was pretty adorable.

While Ciera set up her new room (the guest bedroom she slept in the night before.) I started making lunch.

[Ciera's POV]

At 9 o' clock, Felix and Marzia wanted to watch a movie. They told me I don't have a bedtime, which was pretty exciting.

After the movie, I told them I was going to bed.

"Goodnight Mom and Dad."

That made them smile. My favorite thing to see.

As I laid in bed, I thought of everything that had happened. My life was horrible a week ago, and now things are looking up. My abusive father is in jail, my idols are my parents and I have a baby brother on the way. That's 4 times he has saved me.
