I gathered all the bags of stuff and John’s huge sy- I mean present. I really hoped he liked it; took me days to get done. Ed helped me fit everything into the back of his car and we climbed in. I immediately regretted not taking my bike the moment he locked the doors.
“Kat, you’ve been quiet for the past ten minutes.” Eddie laughed. “Everything okay?”
“Just drive.” I growled, closing my eyes. “I hate cars. I hate cars. Freaking death boxes.” I murmured and he laughed.
“Are you afraid of cars? Oh Johnny will have fun with that one.” He smirked over at my glaring face.
“Don’t. You. Dare.” I hissed. “Luna’s not telling him and neither are you. And it’s not all cars; just the extremely small ones.” I rolled my eyes. “Trucks are fine. SUV’s are fine. Sports cars without tops are fine. But this tiny box is not good.”
“Look, we’re here.” He smiled over at me as I looked out the window to gaze at the warehouse. In all honesty, I would be living here if John had somewhere else to live and Ed would leave behind his precious lair. I opened the door and hopped out, not tripping this time, and grabbed all the presents. “So excited.” Ed chuckled and I stuck my tongue out at him.
“Hater. I love giving presents.” I grinned like a lunatic and ran up the steps to the door. In hindsight, it probably wasn’t the best thing to do seeing as John’s present was a bit… dangerous. I didn’t even bother knocking or ringing the doorbell. I threw open the door and yelled.
“We’re heeeerrrrrreeeee!” I said in a killer-psycho-singsong voice. It was met with hysterical laughing and I knew Eddie and I were beat by the Clown Prince and Harley, both of whom were in their traditional clothes. Luna was wearing a black and white striped top with jeans, accompanied by an amused expression. John was frowning and wearing white, brown, and black; how utterly expected. I wasn’t really paying attention and tripped when I stepped through the door.
“Kat!” Ed yelled and caught me before I landed on John’s gift. “Please watch where you’re going.” He sighed and Harley laughed.
“Alright come here Johnny Boy!” I smiled. “I have to give you your gift; seeing as it’s a hazard for me to keep any longer. Hi Luna! Merry Christmas.” I smiled at her.
“Merry Christmas.” She smiled back and I was happy that not all of us were insane. Yet. John looked at me apprehensively but stepped forward nonetheless. I hadn’t even bothered wrapping it, so I bent down to pick it up and as he soon as he got in range, I threw it at him. He caught it just above his head and his eyes widened. In his hand was grasped a scythe three times larger and deadlier than any he owned. He looked up the glossy black staff that connected to a deadly blade I made to look like the crescent moon; craters and all.
“Sorry it’s so much larger, I made the staff able to carry extra syringes while your blade is embedded with fear toxin.” I smiled up at him.
“How did you gain access to my toxin?” He raised an eyebrow at me, but his voice was teasing.
“Arkham needs better security.” I smiled. “Hope you like it, took me a few tries to get it right.”
“It’s great Katrina, thank you.” He smiled and walked into the lab to store it.
“What about me?!” Harley whined and I chuckled.
“Luna and I found your present dearest!” I said happily and Luna looked at a red and blacked box over under the tree. I nodded slightly and walked over to it. “Here you go honey. Luna’s the one who really found it.” I whispered and she just squealed and pulled out the earrings we got her. They held the symbol of every card on them.
