Chapter - 1

The announcement is about to be made, the candidates for this year’s S-Class recruiting period are going to be listed off. I have to be among them. I got so far last year, even though it was technically 8 years ago and it got interrupted. But I am even stronger now than I was.

“Attention everyone!” Mira-Jane calls everyone to the front of the guild hall. “Master Makarov will now read of the names of the 10 members who qualified for this year’s test.” Mumbling and murmurs flow through the crowd. ’10? Usually there is only supposed to be 8, why the sudden change?’

“I am sure many of you are wondering why there are going to be extra contenders this year.” Erza hushes the masses of whispering people. “The Master saw there were so many promising applicants this year that he could narrow it down that far, so this is a one-time only event.” That makes more sense.

“Now Master Makarov will read off the contenders names.” Mira gestures for the Master to come to the front.

“I want to tell everyone that I am proud of all the applicants, anyone who didn’t make the cut this year, I encourage you to keep trying. Now; the contestants for the X792 S-Class Recruiting Exam are: Natsu, Gajeel, Wendy, Levy, Romeo, Lucy, Gray, Elfman, Lisanna, and Kana!” Makarov says excitedly. ‘Yes I knew I would make it!’  I think ecstatically.

“Oh yeah! I am fired up now!” Natsu shouts above the noisy crowd.

“I cant believe I got picked too!” Lucy and Wendy both exclaim at the same time.

“You guys should have more faith in yourselves, if I can get chosen than you guys definitely have what it takes. After all you are a Sky Dragon Slayer and a powerful Celestial.” Levy encourages them. They exchange smiles and started chatting away excitedly.

“I’m a real man! I will definitely pass!” Elfman shouts.

“I am sure you will brother dear!” Mira-Jane tells him.

“Everyone quiet down now, I still have to explain the rules.” Makarov interrupts. “This year will be different than years passed. Every single contestant has the chance to pass! That’s right all ten of you could become S-Class at the same time.”

“ARE YOU SERIOUS?!” Natsu cries out.

“Shut up Lava Lips and let him finish!” I hiss at him.

“What did you call me?!”

“That is enough you two!” Makarov warns us. “Now, here are the rules: We will not be having the test on Touron Island this year, we have decided to not have it there ever again in light of last times events. So here is how we are going to do it; each of you will take an S-Class request for the board upstairs. All you have to do to pass is complete that quest without any help from another Guild member. However, each of you will be assigned an S-Class or a senior member of the Guild to watch over you. This way if any fail, you will have someone there that will bring you back. Or for some of you they might have to drag you out when things get too far out of hand.” He glares over at Natsu, who just smiles innocently. 

“We will not be telling you who will be following whom, but these are the ones who will be assigned as chaperones: Laxius, Bixlow, Freed, Evergreen, Mira-Jane, Gildarts, Loki, Master Makarov, Makao, and myself.” Erza adds.

“Loki?! He is a senior member?” Natsu exclaims.

“Of course you dummy, he is a Guild member first and a Celestial second.” Lucy snaps at him. 

“We have preselected requests that would present the most challenge for each of you that would also give you a fighting chance to pass. Mira-Jane will now hand them out.” Makarov gestures for Mira to do so.
