Even before I told Joe that horrific sentence, I had already seen the hole through Marie's head. There was blood everywhere. How had I not noticed any of that before? I was sitting beside Marie for at least ten minutes after I had seen it. I acted like I was still trying to wake her up, knowing she'd never wake up again, but really I was trying to think of a way to tell Joe that his wife had just died... His wife and unborn child. This is terrible... She was sitting next to be in the back. When everything happened, I should have protected her, not worried about myself. This is my fault. It's my fault she's dead...

"W-What did you just say?" Joe asked me.

"Joe, there's a gun shot g-going straight through her head..." I said, a single tear falling down my cheek.

"Oh my god. N-No. No!" Joe scrambled to his feet, screaming from the pain in his leg, but fighting through it.

The next thing I know, Joe is right beside me inside the upside down vehicle. He looked at Marie's body, then finally at her head. He gasped and began to cry. That killed me... I can't stand to see Joe cry. He gently picked her head up and looked at her again. He began to cry harder, then practically pulled her into his lap. He sobbed as he held her close to him. I began to cry harder as well, but tried to hide it from Joe. I didn't need him worrying about me when his wife and child just died...

"No," he sobbed again. "This isn't happening. She's going to wake up. She's fine, she's just knocked out."

"J-Joe," I said, resting my hand on his knee. "Sh-She's gone..."

"No!" he shouted.

"Joe," I said as I pulled Marie out of his arms.

I moved her back to where she was when I was trying to get her up, then crawled out of the vehicle. I reached my hand back in for Joe to grab. It took him a little bit, but he accepted it and crawled out of the car, not screaming or anything. Once I helped him get out, I helped him stand up, then he instantly collapsed into my arms, sobbing loudly into my shoulder. I didn't know if everyone else had heard what happened, but I'd imagine they did, and judging by their crying as well, they knew. We all knew too well that this was real. This wasn't a terrible nightmare we'd wake up from.

Not at all.

Meagan really got kidnapped, we really set out on a trek to find her, another vehicle really shot at us, we really did get in a wreck, Pete really did get shot in the shoulder, and Marie and Joe's unborn baby actually died. This is all happening. We can't control any of it... I wish we could.

My god, do I wish we could.

I was still standing up, craddling Joe in my arms, never wanting to let go. He needs someone right now and I was here. I'll do anything to help him. Everyone was still crying as well, Elisa in Patrick's arms, and Pete sitting on the grass next to them. I had started to cry harder as well. Hearing Joe and everyone else like this was killing me. It hurt me so bad.

After a good half hour, Joe had finally calmed down some and I was now holding him in my arms, sitting on the grass. Everyone else had calmed down too. They were just watching us, occasionally looking off into the woods or something. I was also thinking or out next move... We can't stay trapped here forever. We can't let those dumbasses win; definitely not. We've got do something. We've got to fight back! We've got to!

"Ok, guys, I know everything that just happened, but we also can't sit here forever. We've got to track down those assholes that started this all in the first place. We can't let them win. We can't let them all get away with what they've done. We've got to find them, find Meagan, find them and get our revenge. Kill them. Something. Anything. We've got to," I explained. "Please tell me you feel the same."

"I do," Pete said. "What these people are doing will not go unnoticed, and sure as hell will not go on without consequence. They've got to be stopped."

"I agree," Patrick and Elisa both said.

"Joe?" I asked as I picked his head up.

"I agree," he sniffled. "They killed my wife and my unborn child. The second we find thise mother fucking assholes, I will kill them all with my own two hands if I have to. I'm going to get my revenge and it's going to be sweet."

"What do we do?" Elisa asked.

"We come up with a plan," I said.

"I've got an idea," Pete chime in.

"What is it?" Patrick asked.

"I kept looking off into the woods. I know this highway and I know it stretches to the other side of the woods. I know it's a longshot and whatnot, but if we cut through the woods, we'll be more protected and not as noticable. It'll take a shorter amount of them than walking along the highway and getting weird glances. There's also less of a chance that those people will find us again and try and pull some more bullshit. It's worth a shot," Pete said.

"That's a good idea," Patrick said.

"Yeah," Elisa agreed.

"But guys, Joe can't walk," I said.

"All I can do is try. I've seen shows and shit and I know how to use the internet. I know how to make a splint and things like that. There are obviously sticks and things in the woods, so if I can make it there, then I can make something to help me walk. I can do this," Joe said.

"Are you sure?" I asked.

"Yes," he said. "I know I can."

"Then alright. It's decided that we're going to do this," Pete said.

The three of them got up, then Joe lifted himself off of me. I stood up, then gave him my hand to help him up. He struggled, but he eventually got up and grabbed onto my arms for support.

"Can I say one last goodbye to Marie?" he asked.

"Of course," we all said.

Joe stumbled back over to the window, then leaned down and stuck his head inside. He gave Marie a light kiss on her lips, then stood back up. He was trying to fight back the tears, but he remained strong. He sniffled a little, then straightened his posture and looked at all of us.

"Lets go," he said.
