Mufasa's POV
Young adult

Today my dad let me do his patrol duties because I'm a young adult now and will be taking over and becoming king one day. Father says that it's best to start practicing early, because you never know what might happen in the future. And should ALWAYS be prepared.

As I'm walking I sniff the air practicing my tracking skills. I smell something, it's the scent of a male lion. I then sniff for some more clues. It doesn't smell like anyone from here. But somehow it does smell familiar.
"Hmmm."

As I continue my search a female zebra comes up to me. "Excuse me sir, prince Mufasa?" She bows down to me. "Please don't eat me, I'm here to report to you that some Zebras have noticed there is a male lion, possibly a rogue, hunting too much of my herd."

"Interesting...do you mind telling me what he looked like?"

"I didn't really get to see him, all I know is that his mane was black." She answers.

"Are you sure that you're not mistaking this rogue for my father?"

"No he's definitely not your father. The King is considerate of the circle of life and knows not to over hunt."

"That is true." I keep thinking about who it would be for a minute, then realise that the female zebra is still standing there. "Thank you madam I will report this to my mother and father straight away."

"Thank you kind prince, you will be an excellent king one day." She then bows and trots away.

Later that day

"A male lion? Who's not from here?" My father asks as we sit outside our cave on Pride Rock.

"Yes, and the zebra said that he has a black mane, even darker than yours."

"That's odd, we don't know anyone with a black mane, apart from me."

"That's what I thought. Apparently they thought he was a rogue." I tell him.

My mother joins the conversation when she hears the word *rogue*. "A rogue? Why on earth would he even think that he could hunt on our lands?"

"Mother, I'm not sure that he's actually rogue."

"What do you mean?" Asks father.

"Well I was smelling his tracks and strangely enough, it smelled familiar."

"So you're saying that you may know this lion?" Mother questions.

"No but he certainly does have a familiar scent."

"Thank you son for informing me. I'm one hundred percent sure that you will become a great king."

I smiled happily, because that really means a lot coming from him. "Thanks dad."

Mother then starts to speak. "Your father and I will look around now, so you may do whatever it is you would like at the moment."

"Yes you may go son. We will be back by sunset." Says my father.

I nuzzle my parents kindly before watching them walk down Pride Rock.
Hmmm, I thought. I can do whatever I want!
I wonder where Sarabi is?

I went down Pride Rock to look for her. She usually is sitting on her favourite rock down near the waterhole. When I got to there I noticed her beautiful tan coloured fur coat shining in the sunlight as she was resting. Man I'm so lucky to be with a girl as beautiful and intelligent as her.

As I approach her, I decided to leap on her causing her to fall into the waterhole, oops.

"Muffy!" She yells sounding mad. "I'm all wet!"

"Uh sorry. I wasn't meant to-" before I could finish my sentence she pulls me in the water with her. We splash each other's faces making one an other even more drenched.
I know what you're thinking, Sarabi and I are both adults but are still acting like cubs. That will change in a moment just wait and see what happens next.

"Look at us! We're soaked!" She states.

"Well I still think you're beautiful, wet or not."

Sarabi comes up close to me and head buds me gently rubbing her forehead against mine, purring. As we get out of the water we shake off, then run into the long grass. As I was running, I turn around to see that Sarabi had stopped and is now licking herself clean. I come up and sit beside her.

I could see she was struggling to reach her neck so I offered to help. "Do you want some help? It's the least I can do."

"Sure." She said softly.

As I began to clean her, she lays down, she rolls over onto her back looking lovingly into my eyes as I stand over her. As I was about to kiss her, until I tripped over a tree root and landed on top of her accidentally.

"Ha, good thing I broke your fall." She chuckles. "You looked like you were gonna kiss me."

"I was."

"Then do it."

I gently lick her muzzle, and she does the same.

I turn my head to see that it's already sunset. "Look the sun is setting." I say as she turned her head to see the rays of sunshine slowly disappearing. I look back at her. "We should go home now."

"Who says that we can't sleep here tonight?" Sarabi suggests.

"Are you sure that you-."

She interrupts me. "Yes."

I look at her with a grin. "Well it is much more private here."

"Yep, there is no one else here but us."
