Her ribs protruded harshly against her gravely pale skin which was now tinted an ashen grey with malnourishment. It was apparent that the damage done by Damien could potentially be life-altering or possibly lead to death- even will the skilful hands of the doctors and nurses working quickly around her as she lay motionless on the bed.

Slowly, Fay's chest rose and fell heavily with every staggered breath she drew. The brain scans had shown up the true extent of the damage with heat and radiation appearing in places that it shouldn't and nobody failed to notice Damien's initial seared into her stomach.
An infection had wormed its way into the open wounds causing a white fluid to ooze out of any possible place and skin shed away from the wound causing the man watching to grimace at such a ghastly sight.

"How long will she be out for?" A man with a velvety, smooth voice demanded as his stomach twisted at the condition such a young, innocent girl was in.

"I cannot be certain Alpha," a formal voice of an older man began, "Alpha, the brain scans do not hold well. She may never wake up."

"How is this so Richard? Do everything and anything to save this girl. I don't care if you have to call people from other packs. I will not accept anything less than you saving her. Do I make myself clear doctor?"

"Of course Alpha," Richard replied trying not to anger his Alpha.

The Alpha remained silent as he perched himself on the side of Fay's bed and gently moved some of her hair from her face revealing her hollow cheeks and sunken eye sockets as she began to become restless in her coma.

Furiously blinking, her mind attempted to decipher where she was, only to be met with a blinding white light forcing Fay to wince as a wave of excruciating pain ripples through her head.
As she found the courage to peel her eyes open again, although her vision was still blurry, there sat a silhouette of a reasonably muscular man perched upon the bed she resided in.

"You're awake at last," his smooth voice stated lowly being cautious of the pain that was in Fay's head.

Blinking a few more times, she managed to focus her vision upon the man who sat on the edge of the bed. A pair of warm, yet piercing, amber eyes met hers. Being observed with such intensity made Fay wish that she could evaporate so instead she took a keen interest in her hands.

"What's your name?" He asked with a soft tone but no reply was heard as he sighed in frustration at the situation. "Nobody will harm you here, you can speak to me. What is your name?"

She couldn't answer. Her heart hammered against her chest as her fingers intertwined on her lap. What if he killed her? What if he tortured her? Endless questions circulated around her head. The man ran a hand frustratedly through his black, coal hair that appeared as smooth as a raven's feathers. His action made Fay flinch abruptly. Her sudden movement made his face contort into one of guilt and culpability as he reached for her hand making her freeze.

"Shh, don't cry," he whispered, "you're safe now. Nobody's going to hurt you here. But I need to know your name. Perhaps we could take you back to your pack?" He brought a plastic cup of water to her lips allowing her to sip it.

"Fay," she whispered so quietly that she thought he wouldn't hear, but being an Alpha, of course, he heard her.

"Fay," he murmured as if testing her name on his tongue, "what do you know or what do you remember?"

He watched as her features contorted into ones of confusion, realisation and then of pain.

This is a trick, she thought, none of this is real, it can't be. Fay ripped her hand out of his grasp and gripped her hair, pulling tightly and clawing at her scalp, as she began screaming.

"You're not real! This isn't happening! You can't be real!"

Doctors and nurses came rushing in as the Alpha tried to pry Fay's hand from her hair.

"I'm doctor Richard, miss," he began trying to speak over her continual shrieks as she claimed that nothing around her existed and it was all a figment of her imagination. "Miss, please, calm down, you need to calm down now."

"Richard! Do something!" The Alpha exclaimed clearly agitated at the screams and bewildered at her actions.

Fay rocked back and forth screaming until she stopped rather suddenly.

Shooting her head up, she made eye contact with the amber eyes of the Alpha and began laughing.

"You're not real," she laughed nervously as she began rocking her body back a fourth once again. "Ha, it's all in my head, it's not real! Ha! I'm back in my cell."

Everyone exchanged confused, yet concerned, glances.

"No," she laughed manically, "I can see the walls, the cell, he'll be here any minute."

"Fay, it's not in your head. Can you tell me what happened?" The Alpha questioned gripping her wrists to hold her still. She started laughing manically again.

The doctors and nurses brought in a trolley of equipment with everything on it and placed it beside her bed with the equipment needed.

Fay leant forward into the Alpha's arms.

"Kiss me," she demanded.

"I won't do that, you have your mate out there and as do I," he gently scolded trying to gently push her back while she continued to mutter things about everyone being her imagination. "Fay, we are real, I promise you. You are safe now."

She stopped. An evil smirk plastering across her face.

"You're not real because this would kill you and it won't." Before anyone could stop her she darted towards the trolley, grabbing a knife.

Time froze.

The knife flew towards a petrified nurse.
