I hurried to the edge of the forest, keeping Kal in my thoughts.

I tapped into our connection and called to him. Nothing happened for a while and I was starting to get discouraged when I heard hooves heading my way.

Even though it was mid day, it was dark in the woods and the trees and shadows cast a gloomy feel on everything.

When Kal got close enough for me to see him I couldn't help the catching of my breath. He was still as magnificent as ever. His long, strong horse torso was always still a shocking surprise. It was just hard to believe. Half man, half horse. Who would have thought.

"Kal!" I ran to him.

"Your majesty." He said gravely and bowed.

"Oh come off it." I giggled and he smiled.

"You called?"

"Yes, I needed your help."

"Anything."

I was kind of nervous now. How would he respond to my request? Hell how would I respond to my request?!

"I need to see the others." I tried to sound authoritative.

"The others?" He was confused.

"You said there were others right? More...people like you and I don't know...others."

"Ohhhh."

His brow furrowed. He looked both worried and constipated and I was trying very hard not to laugh.

"Are you sure?"

Well I had thought I was before he looked at me like that.

"Yes?" But it came out more as a question than an actual answer.

He sighed.

"You must understand that the moon's children are not the only ones sceptical of your existance. There are others still who don't believe."

He looked saddened by the thought.

"It's fine Kal. I'm not like I'm going to disappear just because they don't believe. Plus, I can control my shifts now so I'll just prove it."

I couldn't help feeling proud of myself and from the look on Kal's face I knew he was proud as well.

"As you wish."

I had been walking for the past thirty minutes and I had fallen over more times than I could count. Kal always stopped to help me and I knew he was slowing his pace for my sake. I wished I could ask him for a ride but that was disrespectful. He was a person after all, not a common mule.

Suddenly he came to a stop . We were at the mouth of a huge clearing. I hadn't even known the woods went this far.

"You have to shift now."

"Now?" I asked.

I was surprised. No one had doubted me yet, I didn't see the need to...

As if he read my mind, which maybe he did, he said...

"Don't give them a chance to doubt."

I nodded.

"I'll go gather the people. Wait until I call you out."

He walked off...passed the clearing to the other side.

I was severly nervous. I had a stampede in my tummy and I was sure I was going to vomit. I took slow, deep breaths to calm myself but I knew I just had to rip the band aid off.
