I was late.

He told me not be but I was fucking late.

I tried to pull on my jeans as fast as possible but my fat ass was really not cooperating.

Ugh this was so frustrating.

Soon I heard heavy footsteps making there way towards my door and with herculean effort I was able to pull them up over my butt. I made a mad dash for the door and opened it just as his fisted hand was about to knock.

"Good you're ready. Let's go." He said in his usual flat, dispassionate voice.

I let out a breath of relief and followed behind him as we made our way downstairs. I was really trying hard to keep my stomach in check but I was starving. Despite my efforts my stomach gave a loud dragon like growl and I felt a blush creep up my neck.

"Your hungry. Let's go to the kitchen first."

"We don't really have to. I'm not that...." with a heavy sigh I followed him to the kitchen as he had ignored me and had already started moving. When we made it there, the maids rushed to prepare whatever we wanted so I asked for some pancakes,bacon and eggs,with milk instead of juice. I have a very healthy obsession for milk.(I really do.😁😁)

We didn't talk at all during breakfast and ate in our usual awkward silence. My gryphon did not want to talk to me either. I'm guessing she knows how I feel about all this and she's mad at me. It's nothing personal really I just didn't like being different.

After breakfast we went outside and mate led me to the back of the house,which had a garage. I was kinda disappointed that we were taking a car since I was hoping he would shift and carry me there. Sigh. Wishful thoughts of a teenage girl.

The garage door opened to show a wide range of cars and motorcycles,but one thing they all had in common was that they were all beautiful and expensive.

"Are these all yours?"

"A couple."

I wondered who the others belonged to.

We walked to a black Audi and he unlocked the car before he opened my side for me. Well that's new.

I slide onto my seat and looked around the interior of the car as he walked to his side. The car smelt like him and that drove me crazy with pleasure. I made a sound at the base of my throat and Micha gave me a surprised look as he heard the purr. I immediately looked down feeling extremely embarrassed. I guess it came with being part kitty.

The ride took about forty five minutes and we were still in Micha's land. Just how big was his pack? The ride had been filled with a silence so loud it made my ears bleed. I opened my mouth several times in an attempt to make conversation but I couldn't come up with anything to say so I just ended up looking like a damn fish.

When the cars engine stopped I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. I didn't particularly want to be here but atleast now I'd have someone to talk to.

I looked at the small, cottage style house in front of us. It looked super cozy even from the outside. It looked to be just two stories and had probably been around for many years.

Micha exited first and came over to my side and opened my door for me. I gave him a grateful smile which he ignored and simply turned and walked to the front door. Before he could knock the door opened to reveal a tall wispy woman with long silver hair,piercing blue eyes complemented by crow's feet. She had a certain air about her. She didn't look very old but the look in her eyes told a very different story. Her eyes looked very wise,like they had seen and triumphed over many things over the years. Things I could never begin to comprehend.

"Ahhhh alpha,luna. What a pleasure. Come in,come in." Her voice matched her looks completely. Airy but with strength and wisdom.

I stepped into her house a little bit apprehensively, but I was sure mate would protect me if she turned out to be a psycho bitch. I think.

Her house was just as cozy inside as it was out. The living room was done in real warm colours and plush furniture.

"Sit."

My mate sat at the opposite side of the three man couch I had chosen. The elder seemed to notice this and raised an eyebrow as I ducked my head,thoroughly embarrassed.

"Good morning Micha." She spoke with a soft smile. I did a double take when he offered an equally warm smile. I couldn't stop the jealousy spreading through me like a cancer. I mean come on,she was an old lady,everyone loves old women. But......why couldn't he ever smile at me like that?

"Good morning Kat." She spoke with that stupid sweet smile again. How did she know my name anyway?

"Good morning elder."

"Oh no need for that, call me Annalise."

She had to be sweet too.

Get a grip Kat. Are you seriously jealous of an old lady. She's probably older than this house. But he smiled at her. Her. Not me. Ugh. This is torture.

"So what do you need Micha? "

"We need you to tell us all you know on gryphons."

"Oh....interesting. Why are you so keen to know?"

"Tell me then I'll tell you." Said my mate.

"Ok,Ok. Well.... where to start from? Oh.....Ok. It all started many years ago. Centuries ago. There were three kingdoms away from the human world. The Upper kingdom,the Middle kingdom and the Lower kingdom. They all lived in harmony and were basically ruled by the upper kingdom. All was beautiful....blissful."

She spoke as if it were a memory. As if she had seen this time. Which isn't impossible right?

"The Upper kingdom consisted of the most magnificent creatures. Phoenix's, Hippogriffs,Elves, all sorts of extravagant creatures. And their ruler......the Gryphon. A creature so magnificent, so beautiful that most could not even stand to look them in the eyes. The gryphons ruled with a kind and just hand but not everybody saw it this way. The Lower kingdom,which consisted of 'lesser' creatures such the vampire,goblins, and such grew jealous of the upper creatures. Now these lesser creatures were not so just based on their looks,but behaviour. They were criminals the lot of them,most times when people in the other kingdoms performed great crimes they were banished to the lower kingdom.

So, the lower kingdom grew jealous and planned to overthrow the king and queen. They managed to corrupt most of the Middle kingdom which consisted of every type of shifter imaginable,and some good witches and other middle class creatures. They plotted and planned until they finally were presented with the perfect opportunity to strike. The queen had just given birth to a little baby girl and the kingdoms were celebrating. During the festivities the rebellion put their plan into action and killed the king and queen and their baby girl and practically all of the Upper kingdom."

She gave a sad sigh before her piercing eyes landed on me before she continued.

"For a few months the rebellion was happy with themselves and so where some others but this quickly wore out. They had no one to lead them now. No guidance. And thus the regret set in. They had murdered the upper class in cold blood. The Upper kingdom which provided them with jobs, the upper kingdom which built new infrunstructure. The few remaining refused to help and soon without leadership brother turned against brother. Most shifters took to the wild and that is why we are still around today but nature was not so kind to all. The goblins for instance were completely wiped out.

In the midst of this chaos an old witch made a prediction. She said there would come a time when an heir would be born. An heir to the gryphon crown to avenge the Upper kingdom. This heir would have power to rival any creature that has ever lived. Their heart would lead them to victory...... but only if they chose the right path. They would have to deal with many difficult situations but their soul and will to live and lead would see them through. The heir would once again bring balance to our world. The last gryphon. " she said all this with her eyes boring into mine.

Wait.....she couldn't possibly think....Oh hell no. Ugh.
