My head was spinning.

How did this happen?

How could they have possibly gotten to an alpha without anybody noticing?

Had this happened in his pack,or here?

Right on my land.

I had shifted back hours ago. The alpha was in the infirmary,getting the poison out of his system.

The other alphas and lunas had retired to their rooms. They tried to put on a brave face but I knew they were all frightened, heck I was scared out of my mind but at least I had Micha with me.

He was really putting a lot of effort into making us work and it was not going unnoticed.

I sighed as I entered my blankets.

I closed my eyes and tried to sleep but all I could think about was that alpha and what was yet to come.

My heart felt like a jack hammer every time I thought about it.

It was well passed midnight when I finally gave up and got out of bed. I put on my slippers and huddled out the door.
I was exhausted but my brain was running miles a minute and I let my feet lead me wherever.

I soon found myself in front of my alphas office.

Micha.

Before I could psych myself out I pushed the door open and walked in.

My eyes instantly drifted to the desk where my mate was in dreamland.

I smiled softly and walked over to him.

He was breathing softly and his face was so peaceful.

I carefully slid between him and his desk. His head lay against his cheat and his arms were dangling off the chair at his sides.

I bit my lip as I tentatively raised my hand to his head and ran my fingers gently down his cheek.

I gasped when his hand shot up and grabbed my wrist while his chest vibrated with a low growl.

His face softened when he noticed it was me and he quickly let go.

"Kat, what are you doing here?"

I couldn't answer that. I didn't know. So I just let my eyes wonder on his face. He looked so tired. He had dark circles under his eyes and his usually clear grey eyes were cloudy.

"I couldn't sleep." I whispered.

He smiled softly and got up from his chair.

"Come on."

He took my hand and before I knew it we were back in my room,which was technically our room.

He led me to bed and coaxed me to get in before he tucked me in.

"Sleep kitten."

It was an order.

He smiled again and went to leave but I grabbed his wrist.

"S-stay. "

His eyes widened slightly before he narrowed them in suspicion.

"You're not going to try to kill me in my sleep are you?"

I giggled.

"No. I forgave you remember? We're starting over."

To emphasise my point I got up and outstretched my hand to him.

"Hey, I'm Kat. You are?"

He looked at my hand before a wide smile lit up his face. He looked so beautiful when he smiled.

"Micha, nice to meet you beautiful."

I chuckled but got serious quick.

"Nice to meet you too. I knew a girl once who was hurt abominably by her mate and she told me if he ever hurt her again she was going to make sure she dragged his soul to hell."

He looked stricken for a moment before he replied just as seriously.

"I think I know this mate of hers, we were close once,not anymore though,he was a douche bag. He wants her to know that he will never do anything to make his mate cry again. It would tear him apart."

I smiled and jumped into his arms.

"Good. Now stay with me."

This time he nodded and I got back under the comforter.

I watched as he took off his shirt and I couldn't help the blush that rose to my cheeks.

Now this was an alpha.

He took off his trousers and got in beside me.

I turned to look at him and he faced me as well.

I raised my hand and gently ran it through is wonderful thick hair.

I was surprised when I heard a deep grumble come from his chest.

"Oh so the big bad alpha purrs."

He scoffed.

"I wasn't purring."

"Mhm."

"I love your hair." I said.

Even in the dark I could see the tips of his ears go red.

He jumped when I squealed. I jumped on him and pinched his cheeks.

"You are so adorable!"

I realised too late that I was on top of him.

"I-Im sorry, I'm crushing you."

I scrambled to get off but he griped my waist tightly.

"Let go. I'm really heavy you know. For all you know I could be crushing your appendix this very second."

I wasn't very sure how true that was but still. I was heavy and I knew it.

He growled.

"You're not heavy."

His gaze was so intense I had to look away.

"Look at me."

I couldn't.

"Look. At. Me."

I turned my eyes to his at his dominating tone.

My confidence had been getting better lately but sometimes I still felt like that useless, fat kid from months ago.

I bit down on my lower lip when he gripped me tighter.

"You are beautiful."

I couldn't look away.

"Say it."

I shook my head.

"Say it!" He shouted.

"I am beautiful." I squeaked.

His face softened and I he pulled me down so I was laying flat on his chest and he ran his hand through my hair.

"I'm sorry for shouting Kat, I just can't stand to hear you talk about yourself like that."

I wrapped my arms around his neck and held tight. I wondered how all this sweet could have been buried under all that sour for so long.

We held each each other for a long time before I spoke again.

"I'm scared Micha." I whispered.

"I know."

"I can feel it coming."

"Feel what coming honey?"

"Destruction."
