Enjoy!!!
*******************************************It has been a week since I went see Kal. I haven't been going to school which I'm completely fine with because I have a lot of training to do.
Some of the alphas have gone home to prepare their packs while some stayed, for whatever reason. Most of the ones who stayed have sons and daughters old enough to run the pack without them.
In all honesty I felt suffocated. They were everywhere I went. If I was going somewhere I was asked if I needed company. If I was doing something I was asked if I was sure I could handle it alone. I mean, I felt more like a brittle old granny than a queen.
I appreciated that everyone was just trying to help and keep me safe so I never complained or acted annoyed.
Apart from the alphas everyone was treating me differently as well. They bowed when I walked past. They offered to do just about everything for me. Apparently it was an honour to serve or be in the presence of a gryphon. I would be lying if I said I didn't take advantage of it sometimes. I mean there are cupboards that I can't reach.
Haley called the other day. She found out what I was. She was ecstatic.
We (Micha and I) were going to visit the poisoned alpha today. The pack doctor informed us that he'd woken up last night so it was an OK time to question him. I bet he didn't think so but we really don't have time to spare.
I thought about the message the vampire left for me all those weeks ago. Time is running out.
We (all the alphas and lunas still in my pack) had been trying to find a clue that could lead us to the rebellion all week but the only person who might have been in close contact with them had been in a coma. Until now.
Micha and I walked side but side into the hospital. The smell of medicine and detergent was nauseating. The lights were too bright and the walls too white. I hated hospitals.
A nurse led us to a private room on the first floor of the hospital. Micha knocked quietly and we walked in without waiting for a response.
My eyes went first to the alpha's luna. She had been in the hospital for the entire week. She refused to eat or sleep or do anything for that matter. She said what if she left and he died and she wasn't there to hold him one last time.
Love. It was curious emotion.
She looked haggard but there was a sparkle in her eyes now as she looked at her revitalized mate.
I walked over to her and ran a hand through her hair as a sign of comfort. She closed her eyes with a sigh and leaned into me.
I turned my eyes to the alpha on the bed. I could tell this had been a difficult battle. His skin was pale and straining against he bones of his face. His eyes had dark shadows under them and his lips were cracked. He still looked half dead in my opinion.
"Alpha Adams. " I inclined my head in respect.
Yes he'd tried to kill me but I wasn't one to hold a grudge....sometimes.
"No hard feelings?" He asked with a weak smile.
I smiled back.
"Not at all."
"Adams we need you to tell us how this happened." Micha said. His voice authoritative... commanding even, and for the first time I realised he was to be my king.
The thought made me shiver with delight.
King Micha.
"I don't....remember." the sick alpha sounded genuinely sad and confused.
