Isai's POV
As soon as I sat on the bullet, I asked him. "Where are we going now Maama?"
"Surprise."
Since he is very secretive about his surprises, I left him at that and started enjoying the scenery around us. After driving for few more minutes, we reached Pykara Falls. It was beautiful. I remember telling him that when I visited Ooty last time during School Excursion we couldn't visit Pykara Falls. So he has brought me here. The place looked like heaven. The climate was awesome. He started taking pictures of the falls, mountains etc. Even though professionally he is a fashion photographer, he likes nature photography as well.
We then moved to Mukurthi National Park. He was very happy to take pictures of Nilgiri Tahr (an animal). When he was checking the pictures he had taken, I too went near him. I saw a picture of two Nilgiri Tahr's looking at each other and said, "It's wonderful Maama."
He turned around, gave me his beautiful smile and kissed my cheek. "Thanks Kannu."
He is against PDA. This is a huge thing for him. I was happy that he was changing for me.
When we started from there, I asked him, "Maama, can we buy some Toda handicrafts? Do you know any places from where we can buy them?"
"Yeah, but first let's have some lunch."
"Okay Maama."
Since we were travelling we thought of having a very light lunch. As soon as we settled in a restaurant, he went to the restroom. When he returned, I asked him, "Is it clean enough?"
"What???"
"I meant the restroom Maama."
"Yeah, it's fine."
"Thank you."
After using the restroom, I came back and asked him to get me the hand sanitizer from my handbag. He opened my bag, searched for it and then gave it to me. When I applied it, he was laughing at me. "Why are you laughing now Maama?"
"Only women can remember to bring these things. Now you are not supposed to eat after cleaning your hands with a hand sanitizer. Wipe them with a tissue or better wash your hands again in running water."
Since wash basin was near our table, I washed my hands again. When I sat next to him, he asked me, "I have always heard that women carry a survival kit to Antarctica in their hand bags. What do you carry?"
"Curious??"
"Yeah."
"Check it out."
He opened my handbag to see a sachet of wet tissues, face tissues, power bank, mobile phone, comb, a small key chain which had a little button knife attached to it, pepper spray, some money, pen, debit card and then finally when he took that black pouch I stopped him. "Don't open it here Maama."
"What is there in this Kannu?"
"It's a menstrual cup."
"You mean something which is used during periods."
"Yeah."
He held the pouch and tried to feel it from outside. "How does it look like?"
I took a pen from my handbag and then drew a model of the menstrual cup in the tissue paper. He asked me further doubts about it and I cleared it. I was amused that a guy could be so curious about such womanly stuff.
He asked me, "How is it different than your normal stuff?"
"In India disposal of sanitary pads is a huge problem. First of all we are making people of a particular caste to clean our wastes. It is nothing worse than humiliation when we ask them to dispose our used sanitary pads as well. Even if we pack it safely and mark it with a red dot, I think it is still a inhuman thing to do. Dry disposal is not widely available in India. That's why Amma suggested this few years back and I am pretty much comfortable with it."
