Chapter 24: Tames's Sacrifice

Hiccup

We went through the island where we last saw Ryker and his men. It turns out that the island was totally deserted.

"Oh, that is just perfect! We had one chance to wipe this guy with our dragons, and now he's gone!" Snoutlout said, putting his hands in his hips in frustration.

"Where did you think he went?" Stoick asks curiously. But I knew the answer.

"He's heading towards the Dragon Paradise! He's going to strike it first!"

Tames

I pulled Stoick moments before we set to find Ryker.

"Stoick you have to promise me something. Something that Hiccup would try to stop me. I'm going to sacrifice myself when I face Ryker. He wants to kill Hiccup in front of Ingrid to make her Chief of the tribe, and make her seek for revenge."

Stoick said, "And you don't want either of them to go into that dark path, I get it. But why come to me, when I was the one who banished Hiccup out of the tribe in the first place?"

"Because there is one thing you would do, not as a Chief of Berk, but... as a father to his only child." I pulled out a scroll.

"Give this to Hiccup. He'll understand." I said. Stoick said, "Tames."

I turned to him, "Yeah, Stoick?"

"Thank you for raising him, being the boy he is now." He said, "I'm glad that he has family to look out for besides Berk."

"I promise I'll look after Ingrid as if she was my own daughter."

"Then I want you to adopt her. She'll need guidance in order to become Chief."

As I looked at Ingrid, knowing it would be the last time I will see her, I knew it was the hardest decision I had to make.

"Daddy, what's up?" Ingrid looks directly at me, very curiously of what I've been thinking about.

"It's nothing, Ingrid. Just remember that no matter what happens, I love you." I said to the Viking.

"Dad, nothing is going to happen." She said.

But I knew that it wasn't true.

I hear Ryker said, "Dragon Queen, destroy the island!"

"Ryker! If you want to go to destroy my island, you have to go through me!"

I jumped off my dragon as Hiccup yells, "Tames, no!"

Hiccup

I saw Tames, my father figure, jumps out of his dragon. "Tames, no! What you doing?!?"

Toothless and I attempt to stop him from doing stupid, mostly because that is what I usually do, but someone blocks our way to stop Tames.

It was Thorando and my father. "Hiccup, there is nothing we can do. We have to stop the Dragon Queen, that is what we came here to do."

"But we can't let Tames-" I said, but he cuts me off, "Hiccup, we had to let him do this."

I looked at Tames and groan in despair.

As I saw Ryker grinning, I said, "Toothless, hit the wings, now!"

"Stormfly, spine Shot!"

"Sly, Flame Charge!"

"Beauty, Spin Attack!"

"Thorando, Sound Boom!"

The Dragons did as commanded as the Dragon grew in anger.

"Toothless and I will distract the Queen. You guys get the villagers someplace safe." I said to the Vikings.

As Toothless and I soar thru the battlefield, I got a glimpse of Tames and Ryker fighting against one other.

In that moment, Ryker's sword knocked out of Tames's and... then..

Tames looks at me for the last time as Ryker strikes him with his final blow.

As he fell into the ground, I was in disbelief of what just happened.

Tames , the Chief of Dragon Paradise... was dead.
