2 MONTHS LATER

COREY

"Happy four month anniversary Fae."

Fae covers her mouth with her hands seeing the breakfast I'd made her. She looked sexy as hell wearing one of my shirts with messy bed hair that showed signs of last night's activities.

"Corey I love it. But four months anniversary isn't a thing."

I scoff, "I'm going to celebrate every month with you Fae because I love you."

Fae shuffles towards me and into my open arms resting her head on my chest, due to our height difference I'm able to rest my chin on top of her head.

"I love you more Corey. Promise me you'll never leave me alone."

She'd recently opened up to me about her past and how she lost her parents and older brother in a car crash leaving her an orphan and to look after herself. She didn't let a lot of people in but she said she trusted me.

"I'll never leave you alone Fae, I'll always be watching over you."

1 MONTH LATER

FAE

"What do I owe this pleasure, Sid?"

"I feel like we don't hang out as much and I need my Fae time."

Sid stands in the hallway while I lean against my open front door. Just then the apartment door opposite opens revealing Derek and his brother Alex who I still hadn't forgiven for nearly running me down. Corey and the rest of the band thought they were odd, I just thought Corey was marking his territory again.

"Sorry Fae we heard voices and we're also expecting guests."

I nod, "no harm done. Come in Sid so you can have your Fae time."

Sid ignores the two brothers and walks into my apartment. I wave at the brothers before closing my door.

"Can we watch Supernatural Fae?"

I'd gotten Sid hooked on the show and I was proud of myself. I was a big believer that the supernatural world existed.

"I'll make us some popcorn while you set it up, Sid. We're on the vampire episode."

Sid cheers and throws himself on the sofa. Walking into the kitchen I hear raised voices coming from the hallway and decide to be nosey. I put my eye up to the peephole and see six guys in the hallway including Derek and Alex, and as if one of them could see me they turn in my direction so I stumble away from the door making sure to lock it.

"I think we'll make this an all-nighter Fae. What do you think?"

I sigh a breath of relief, I didn't know why but my gut said something was up and I didn't want to be alone tonight.

"Sure Sid, we can watch it all night."

3 MONTHS LATER

FAE

Nine months Corey and I had been together, and we were happy as ever or at least I thought we were. Recently Corey had been acting odd as had the rest of his band like he was distancing himself from me. whenever I tried to get answers I was met with blank stares and it was getting on my last nerve.

While I was at the record store I come up with multiple ways to confront Corey and demand answers. Closing up the store for the day I nearly jump out of my skin seeing Shawn leaned against a car staring at me. Only the last two months had he warmed up to me and called me a good influence on Corey.

"Err hi Shawn, what are you doing here?"

He laughs, "Corey doesn't trust you walking home after your near miss so here I am to drive you home."

Of course, Corey cared about my safety. Shawn opens the passenger door and I get inside. He then gets in and starts the car. I lean my face against the window.

"Do I finally get to know all the mystery, Shawn?"

He sighs, "Corey's idea of mystery and surprise sometimes ends up with him ignoring the person in question but not intentionally."

My eyes widen at the mention of a surprise, was Corey planning something this whole time?

"Shit I shouldn't have told you that Fae."

I laugh, "your secret's safe with me Shawn. I'll act surprised."

We drive and chat until Shawn pulls up outside my apartment building; I stare out of the window.

"Wow, Shawn my apartment building is such a surprise."

"The surprise is inside your apartment silly."

I roll my eyes at Shawn and get out of the car. I wave at him and jog up the stairs to the building. The lift was on the ground floor so I quickly get up to my floor. Corey had a key to the apartment so when I heard banging and cursing coming from the other side of the door I wasn't concerned.

Unlocking the door and stepping inside the apartment I'm met by my favourite candle scent, and when I look over at the kitchen and dining table I'm shocked to see it looking all fancy and romantic. Corey always called me a cheesy romantic but here he was being the cheesy romantic.

The banging and cursing I'd heard had been Corey dropping what looked like a chicken on the kitchen floor. He'd never been the best cook. Putting my bag down and throwing my jacket lazily to the side I crouch down in front of my boyfriend.

"I dropped the chicken babe."

I smile and cup his chin with my hands bringing his head up to make eye contact.

"What's all this? No offense Corey but you're not a romantic."

"I wanted to cook you a nice meal and then build up the courage to ask you something kind of big."

I tilt my head, "well we can get takeaway and you can ask me whatever you want."

Corey grins, "you're really a one of a kind girl Fae."

I get up to look for something to clean the chicken up with.

"Nine months we've been together Fae, nine happy months of bliss. I never thought I'd fall in love but then I found you and everything clicked into place. We've been talking about our future and this moment feels right to take the next step in our relationship."

I turn around to question Corey's sappiness only to find him down on one knee holding a small black box with a beautiful antique looking diamond ring inside.

"Oh my god."

"Will you marry me Fae?"

I nod too stunned to speak. He'd just proposed to me in my kitchen floor over a spoilt chicken. Now I understood the secrecy, and I forgave Corey and his friends. He smiles and pushes the ring on my finger before standing up to tower over me.

"I can't believe this is happening, Corey. God, I love you so much. This ring is stunning."

Corey wraps his arms around my waist and chuckles, "that ring has been in my family for decades and I'm happy to see it on your finger Fae. Now, how about that takeaway?"

I stand on my tiptoes and peck his lips, "and you say I'm perfect Corey. What do you fancy tonight? Chinese or Indian?"

Our life was only going to go up from here, I now had a wedding to plan.
