The next morning Scott decided to walk Scarlet to school, he wanted to be able to spend more time with her, so she would trust him when he said he wouldn't be leaving.

Scarlet held Scott's hand and made sure not to step on the cracks as he watched her with a smile, of course she didn't notice. "So, how about I pick you up after school? We can go do something fun with daddy." Scott offered. Scarlet nodded, "Okay." She smiled before going on about something she was doing at school.

When they got to the small, white building with a dark blue roof, Scott crouched down. "I'll be here to pick you up in a bit, okay?" He asked softly. Scarlet nodded and hugged him tightly. Scott closed his eyes and held her, gently kissing her forehead before he watched her run into the building with her pink backpack swinging behind her.

Scott smiled as he watched her leave. "They grow up fast, huh?" A man's voice asked behind him. Scott turned and nodded, "I wasn't there most of the time, but I'm sure it's true." He smiled. "Divorce?" The man asked. "No, no, acitve duty." Scott corrected. "Where'd you serve?" The man asked. "Afghanistan." Scott sighed before looking at the man. "My ex wanted to be in the army, no idea if he made it. I'm Alex." The man sighed, holding a hand out. "Scott."

The two talked for a few more moments until Scott got a text, "That's my husband. I'll see you around." Scott smiled as he looked up from his phone to Alex. "Sure thing, Scott." Alex smirked before watching the man walk away.

"Sure thing."
