Ein's Backstory

The Plan

Here's the chapter as promised. :)

Ein POV

My eyes were shut, I was ready to be eaten. But the wolf bites never came. I peeked out to see Acacia staring at me and smiling in her arcane form. The wolves were standing behind her. I opened my eyes, and they still never came.

"Why aren't you making them eat me?" I asked.

"What's the fun in that?" she replied. "Besides, your parents would kill me, arcane or not. So I just have to.....beat Molly. Or, you can make this easier and choose me."

"And what happens if I don't?" I asked.

"Then I will find a way to be alpha of the pack at school and at home and then make you the Omega. After a while.....then I will make the wolves track you down and eat you." she answered.

I sighed, I had no choice. "Fine, I will do as you ask. What do I get in return?" I asked

"The gift of not dying," she answered. "And a possible solution to the spotted bug problem."

I gasped. A solution? That would solve everything! "Expect to be alpha soon!" I said. Then the vines wrapped around me let me go, and the pack of wolves left. I fell on the ground panting and looked up at Acacia. Her eyes were still olive green, but they were changing back to their original colors.

"You better hurry 'cause the clock is ticking." she warned.

I nodded and ran off. I had to tell Molly! I ran out of the forest and went looking for Molly. After about half an hour, I found her.

"Molly," I called "We need to talk."

She came over, curious. "Ok, what's up?" asked Molly.

I really didn't want to do this, but it was the only way to save the pack. "I......" I started. I couldn't continue, I felt too bad.

"Yes?" she asked.

"I got a way to cure or stop the spotted bug." I pushed out.

Her eyes grew wide. "OMI THAT'S AMAZING!!!" she exclaimed. I couldn't quite meet her eyes. "What's wrong?" she asked.

I sighed and looked at her sadly. "But I can only get it if........if you give up your position as alpha and give it to Acacia." I said quietly.

She stayed quiet. I could see tears coming to her eyes and a look of betrayal. "So you basically used MY position as alpha as a bargaining chip?!?!?!?" she asked.

"No! She was the one that came up with the idea." I exclaimed.

"And you agreed?? I can't believe you!!!" she cried.

By this time I was getting tired of this. I was getting impatient, so I punched her hard. She fell on the ground in shock.

"JUST DEAL WITH IT AND GIVE UP YOUR POSITION SO WE CAN SOLVE THIS STUPID PROBLEM ALREADY!!!" I yelled.

She got up and looked at me in sheer hatred. "No." she said.

"Ok." I replied. "Then I have to take matters in my own hands." Then I picked her up, and went to the forest. She thrashed and kept screaming "PUT ME DOWN!!! LET ME GO!!!!!" But I kept a firm grip on her and dropped her off in the middle of the forest. There I turned around and raced out of the forest. I heard her yells growing fainter and fainter. "EIN HEFTOLY GET BACK HERE!!! YOU'RE SO DEAD!!!!!! YOU DOG!!!!!" But I just kept running until I got home. Then I went straight to my room and lied down on my bed. This better be worth it. I thought.

*time skip to next school day*

I got to school extra early. Then I went to Acacia's locker and waited there. After about an hour, she came and looked surprised to see me.

"Ein, what're you here for?" she asked. "Any luck yet?"

"I came to ask you a question," I replied. "When are you planning to reveal yourself?"

"I don't know......I was planning to if things got out of hand or as soon as I become alpha," she answered. "Why do you need to know?"

"It would be a lot easier to convince Molly to give up her position if you did. She refused when I talked to her about it yesterday." I said.

Acacia looked down. "I see...." she said. "Then I'll reveal myself today! Just round everyone up during lunch to the cafeteria and we'll be good!"

I nodded. "Ok, I'll do it. Hopefully, it'll convince Molly to give up her position." I said.

"If not, then I have a backup plan." she said with an evil grin beginning to form.

"After this is over with......your solution better work," I said narrowing my eyes. "Because if it makes the problem worse or it doesn't make it better, you will be banished from the pack."

She pouted a bit. "Ok geez, Ein lighten up. It'll be fine." she said.

"It better be," I said. "Now I'm gonna go, see you at lunch." Then I walked off.

"See ya!" called Acacia.

I walked around the corner to see Molly! Had she been eavesdropping on us?

"Uh hey, Molly!" I said coolly. "Sorry about what happened yesterday....."

I saw tears in her eyes. "How could you do this to me Ein?" she asked. "I should've known."

I went to give her a hug but she pulled back. "NO! After what you did, you don't get to Ein." she said angrily.

"Excuse me but I asked you to give it up for the sake of our pack? Don't you care about them? What about your mother Molly?" I retorted.

She seemed stunned. I had hit her in a soft spot, and she knew it. Tears falling from her eyes, she said, "I heard what you said with Acacia...............you obviously care for her more than me."

So she did hear me. I looked down, ashamed and guilty.

"So you lied to me about the cure just so I would give up my position just so you could be with her........how could you Ein? I loved you!" she said. I said nothing, just kept staring down. "You've always like her better than me. Maybe you should've chosen her as alpha instead of me. But I won't give this position up on my life. Just go Ein, I don't need you anymore." she said.

Her words stung. "I promise I will tell you the entire truth after this is over." I promised. "It's just, you heard part of our conversation and it meant something different to you than what we truly meant. I just can't tell you now or else......" I looked around frantically.

"Or else what?" asked Molly.

"I will explain afterwards. I'll give you one hint. Lunch. Be prepared for something you would never expect." I said quickly.

Molly nodded sadly. "Ok, but just remember Ein.....this will be hard to forgive you for." she said.

"Ok, I understand," I said even though I really didn't understand why. "Talk to you later Molly."

"Ok." she replied. Then I gave her a quick hug (to her surprise) and ran off. There was a lot more I had to prepare for today.
