Blake found herself sat on her best friend Betty Cooper's bed the night before they were supposed to return to school. She idly flipped through a magazine and her other friend Kevin, who was sat next to her, started questioning Betty about what the night would hold.

"Are you excited? Nervous?" He asked.

"Both." Betty said as she spun on her dressing table chair to face the pair sprawled on her bed. "I haven't seen him all summer."

"Which is why, nerves are acceptable, but we agreed, Betty It's time. You like him, he likes you." Kevin assured her. Blake just smiled.

"Well, then why, Kevin, hasn't he ever said or done anything?" Betty smirked.

"Well, then why, Kevin, hasn't he ever said or done anything?" Betty queried as she looked for some other item of make-up.

"Because Archie's swell, but like most millennial straight guys, he needs to be told what he wants. So, tell him, finally." Kevin said as he stood from the bed and walked to the window.

"Blake?" Betty asked.

"I have no idea what goes through my brothers head I'm afraid." She replied with a smile.

"That's because she's too caught up with Jughead." Kevin retorted as he looked out of the curtains. "Oh, my god!" Kevin suddenly exclaimed making both of the girls jump.

"What?" They questioned simultaneously.

"Game-changer. Archie got hot!" Kevin said as Betty joined him at the window. They both watched Archie, who was stood in his bedroom window across the street, throw on his shirt. "He's got abs now. Six more reasons for you to take that ginger bull by the horns tonight." Kevin said as they both gaped at Archie through the window.

"Dude! That's my brother!" Blake scrunched up her face in disgust.

Blake stood outside the drive in's main building's door and rapped her knuckles against the peeling wood. Jughead's head peeked around the door. His face lit up when he saw her. His beanie was gone and his black hair fell into his face. She stepped through the door and ran her fingers through his hair, detangling it on the way. He smirked at her and shut the door. He pressed his lips to her; one of his hands came up and cupped her face.

He pulled back and smiled at her. "School should be fun tomorrow."

"Archie's gonna find out." She murmured as she pressed her head into his hand.

"Let him. And everyone else. I want them to know you're mine." He smirked and pressed his lips to hers again with more ferocity.

Archie was waiting for Blake when she got home. Her hair was a mess and she knew she didn't look much better clothes wise. One of Jughead's plaid shirts was wrapped around her shoulders. She didn't look Archie directly in the eyes. As she shrugged off her coat and kicked off her shoes.

"How was your night with Betty?" She questioned.

"Good. How was your night?" He asked as he stood from where he had been sat on the stairs.

"Good." She repeated and tried to get past him to go up the stairs but he moved and stopped her.

"Dad's asleep." Archie told her. "Which is lucky for you. Are you gonna tell me who you've been sneaking off with all summer?" He crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow at her. She realised how cliché the over-protective older brother was but she resisted telling him so.

She sighed and decided it was better to get it out of the way while Archie couldn't actually cause Jughead any physical damage. "Jughead." She almost whispered.

"What?" Archie looked taken back.

"I've been dating Jughead all summer Archie. You and Betty get together yet?" She shot back. They were both trying to keep their voices low to avoid waking their dad and getting the inevitable storm of questions neither of them wanted.

"No, you know she's too good for me. But you and Jughead,"

Blake cut him off before he could continue. "I know you two no longer see eye to eye, Arch, but he is nicer than every single other guy at school and you know it."

"Yes, I do." Archie sighed in defeat. "But I he hurts you in any way, Bee, I will kick his ass."

"I know you will." Blake smiled and pulled him in for a hug. "We should probably get some sleep, you know, with school starting tomorrow." She pulled away and made her way upstairs with Archie close behind her. "Night." She called as she walked into her room.

"Night." Archie called back.

Little did either of them know the revelations that the coming week would hold.
