The next morning Archie went straight to Weatherbee and came clean about the gunshot. After Blake and Archie had recounted both of their stories to the rest of the guys while in the rec room, Veronica spoke up.

"So, are you're suspects now?"

"My dad says we all are, including me." Kevin sounded slightly annoyed.

"Not me, girl. I don't know these people." Veronica reminded him.

"Guys, should we may be re-binge Making a Murderer on Netflix tonight?" Kevin suggested.

"Sorry. Can't. Gotta stay late to work on the paper." Betty said.

"We're going to Pop's." Blake answered for her and Jughead.

"Count me out, too. I've got a date tonight." Veronica smirked.

"You do?" Blake and Archie exclaimed.

"Which Riverdale hottie made the cut?" Kevin queried.

"Hey, Vee-Lo. I'll swing by the Pembrooke to pick you up at 8:00?" Chuck said with a smile.

"I'll be waiting." Veronica smiled.

"Cool." Chuck said as he walked out with Reggie and Moose in tow.

"Chuck Clayton?" Betty exclaimed.

"You're going on a date with Chuck?" Kevin inquired.

"He's kind of a player." Betty warned.

"Who cares? He's the hottest of hot," Kevin cut in. "and he's the varsity football coach's son. In Riverdale, that's like dating a Kennedy." Veronica merely kept smirking.

Blake and Jughead walked into the room of the school's newspaper, The Blue and Gold, where Betty was waiting to meet them.

"If print journalism is dead, what are we doing here?" Jughead questioned as the pair walked in.

"The Blue and Gold isn't dead. It's just dormant." Betty shared with the pair. "But waking up. You're writing a novel, right? About Jason Blossom's murder?" Betty asked.

"I am. Riverdale's very own In Cold Blood." Jughead said as he held up a magnifying glass in front of him to Blake, who, plucked it out of his hand.

"Which started out as a series of articles. Not to mention, Bee, you've been a budding detective and journalist since we were kids. I'm hoping you'll both come write for the Blue and Gold." Betty smiled questioningly at the pair.

"I just don't think the school paper's the right fit for my voice." Jughead said.

"He means his sarcasm." Blake muttered and he glared at her.

"Jason's death changed Riverdale. People don't want to admit that, but it's true. We all feel it. Nothing this bad was ever supposed to happen here, but it did. I want to know why." Betty explained.

"Would we get complete freedom?" Blake questioned her smiling friend.

"I'll help, and edit. And suggest. But it's your stories, it's your voices." Betty tried even though she was dealing with the two most stubborn people in the world.

"Doesn't sound like complete freedom, but," Jughead glanced at Blake who nodded. "We're in."

"Okay great! Um, in that case, I have your first assignment." Betty smiled widely. "There's one person who was at the river on July 4th that no one's talking about."

"Dilton Doiley and his Scouts." Blake and Jughead both said.

"Exactly." Betty said as the pair left.
