Blake and Archie arrived at the rally a little early so Archie could get ready and Blake could meet Jughead. Blake wished Archie luck as she walked out onto the almost empty field and walked over to the stands where she found Jughead with his usual beanie on top of his head. He smiled at her. "If it isn't my hero." He said dramatically as he stood up.

"It was one punch." She muttered as she pulled him around to the side of the stand. People were beginning to arrive and she didn't want to see anyone else right now.

Jughead pressed his back against the side of the stand and pulled her towards him with her belt loops. She laughed lightly, making him smile, as her arms wound around his neck. He leaned down and pressed his lips against hers. She kissed him back before pulling away. But neither of them moved from where they were stood. Blake glanced to the side to see Archie talking to Miss Grundy. Jughead followed her gaze and briefly locked eyes with Archie. Archie finished talking and walked their way. Blake pulled away from Jughead and faced her brother.

"Girl trouble? You?" Jughead said sarcastically.

"Grundy and me. We're telling Weatherbee." Archie murmured and Blake shot him a smile. "At least, I am." Blake noticed the small smile that crept onto Jughead's face. Archie continued. "And also, I didn't mean all that crap I said to you. I'm sorry."

"It's cool." Jughead muttered. "We're not gonna hug in front of this whole town." Jughead laughed as the twins quickly joined in. "So why don't we both just do that bro thing where we nod like douches and mutually suppress our emotions?" Jughead suggested with a smirk.

"Yeah, but as friends, right?" Archie queried.

"To be discussed, over many burgers, and many days." Jughead smiled.

Blake pulled her brother in for a hug. "I'm proud of you. Now go kill it." She said as he smiled and ran off. "It's about time you two figured this out."

"Shut up." Jughead said jokingly as he pulled her into his side. The rain started to pour down on the school. "Could this get anymore cliché?" Jughead laughed.

"Probably." She laughed with him. "Pop's?" She suggested. Neither of them really wanted to be here.

"Sounds like a plan." He smirked before he set of running.

"No fair!" She called as she raced after him.

They raced all the way there laughing. When they stumbled through the front door they were both soaking wet, out of breath and laughing. Pop just smiled at the pair. "The usual?" He asked.

"Just the milkshakes, today." Jughead smiled as he pulled her to their usual booth and down next to him. She leant into his side the smile still secured on her face.

"I've missed this." She muttered after Pop brought their milkshakes.

"What?"

"Just us, not having to worry about anything." She smiled up at him.

"Me too." Jughead kissed her before the bell signalled the door had opened.

They looked up to see Archie, Veronica and Betty all stood looking at them. Blake smiled and waved them over. "Would you guys like to join us?"

"Yes, but only if you're treating." Veronica laughed as she squished next to Blake and Betty and Archie sat across from them. "Veronica Lodge." She introduced herself to Jughead.

"Jughead Jones, the third." Jughead replied.

"Jughead Jones, the third." Veronica repeated in disbelief.

"To someone on the outside, peering in, it would've looked like there were five people in that booth. But I was there, and I can tell you. Really, there were only four. A blonde girl, a raven-haired girl, the most beautiful brunette girl and the luckiest red-headed boy in in the universe. For one shining moment, we were just kids. Those bright neon lights of Pop's keeping the darkness at bay. Giving way, as all nights must, to a morning of reckonings."

The next morning Blake and Jughead were sat in their usual places in biology when Sheriff Keller and Principal Weatherbee walked through the door. Everyone looked up and Blake and Jughead shared a worried look. Cheryl stood up from where she was sat at the front of the room.

"You're here for me, aren't you?" Cheryl voiced. "Because of the autopsy?" She shot a warning look at Blake who grabbed onto Jughead's hand.

"We don't need to do this in front of your classmates, Cheryl." Weatherbee said.

"It's all right, Principal Weatherbee. They'll find out soon enough." Cheryl held her hands out as if to be handcuffed.

"Now, that won't be necessary." Keller assured her.

"Wait, Cheryl, find out what?" Veronica questioned.

"That I'm guilty." Cheryl muttered before she was escorted out.

"As shocking as those three words were, they were nothing compared to the secrets that Jason's body had given up during its autopsy. That Jason didn't die on July 4th, as we believed, but over a week later."
