"guys! thank god you're here." i say in relief as the four run to me.
"what's wrong, case?" lili asks.
"follow me."
i lead them to a beach by a cliff which has angry waves thrashing. where rob, ashleigh, and ross all comfort a cold, wet dylan sprouse.
"holy shit." they say in shock.
"dylan?" lili says going up to him.
he looks up at her, and slowly speaks the words he's said to me and the others, "i'm guilty."
"what?" kj questions.
"i'm guilty. for cole's..suicide. it's my fault. mine.. moms.. dads.."
"excuse me?" cami asks defensively.
ross stands up, "dude. you have to calm down, you didn't do anything."
"no," he replies, "i did. you don't know what was happening with him. i do."
"what was wrong then, dylan? why'd he do it and why are you guilty?" lili's starting an interrogation.
these never go well.
"i'm not telling you."
"why?"
"because."
"dylan-"
"don't try to fucking get it out of me because i will not budge."
she sighs, "fine. just.. don't kill yourself too, okay?"
"yeah."

everyone's inside, drinking tea, coffee, whatever.
except dylan.
he left.
"we need to get it out of him," cami says, "somehow."
"you guys are really into this, aren't you?" i ask.
"of course! we need to know why he did it." kj defends.
"i mean.. i'd like to know." ross admits.
"me too." says mads.
and lili.
and rob.
and ashleigh.
and i agree.
i'd like to know why too.
