Chapter Twenty-Six
Robert and Vera got back to the apartment and found Preston asleep on the couch.
“Poor thing, he must have not gotten enough sleep last night.” Vera said as she placed a blanket over Preston.
“Who would on that thing you call a pull out bed?” Robert replied.
“Oh shut up Robert, it’s not that bad.”
“Well you haven’t tried to sleep on it yet.”
“Oh whatever, come let’s take Preston’s things to his room.” Vera grabbed the first box and went to the spare bedroom. Robert stayed behind and watched Preston sleep. He looked so peaceful; Robert could just watch him sleep all day.
“You know that’s creepy right?” Vera said when she came back for another box.
“No it’s not,” Robert said as he picked up a box and followed Vera. When they finished putting all of Preston’s things away, Robert had to get ready for work. He told Vera to stay with Preston until he got out. When Preston finally woke up, he found Vera in the kitchen make them dinner. He took a seat at the table while she finished.
“How long had I been out for?” Preston asked.
“I’m not sure, when we got back we found you asleep on the couch. So was it better then my couch?”
Preston laughed. “Yeah it was so much better. Where is Robert?”
“Oh he is at work, but he will be home soon.”
“I didn’t know he worked, I just thought that since his family had money he wouldn’t have to work.”
“You will have to ask him about it; it’s not really my place to say anything.”
“Ok so what’s for dinner?”
“Spaghetti and meatballs, I hope you like.”
“Yeah it’s one of my favorites, is it almost ready?”
“No it won’t be ready for another few minutes, made it late so Robert could join us. You should go see how we set up your room.”
“Ok I guess I can go check out my new room.”
“Ok I’ll be in here.”
Preston walked to his room and was surprised to see all his things had been put away. It was a nice room; he let himself flop on the bed and loved how soft it felt. He could just fall asleep on this bed, not even his bed at home was this soft?
