The Skeleton Princess

Chapter 11 - The church of hope

Luna lays on her back while on her bed, she is thinking about the past and what has lead up to this point.

She thinks of her father and how he sacrificed himself for her, she thinks of Max and Lucy and how much they have helped her, and she finally thinks of herself and how much she has changed for the good or bad.

Luna brakes from her trance and says in a positive voice "I shouldn't look at the past but the present... for now."

The princess jumps out of the recently used bed and pats her dress to straighten out the crinkles, she was ready to set her plan in motion which is to go 'visit' the pope.

The blue beatiful sky was now a lightless black with small white dots scattered across the sky, Luna decides to be stealthy and opens her wooden windows slowly which make a quiet "Creek" echo thoughout her candlelit room.

She climbs the window and looks out over the city, wooden and stone buildings are littered throughout the dark streets. There are some houses which still have light emitting from their windows, the occasional dog and cat can be heard shouting across the night filled city.

Luna jumps with a light footing while she summons her scythe, she lands onto one of the wooden roofs and runs with terrifying speed, jumping onto each roof getting closer to her goal which is the huge stone cathedral in the center of the city.

The elegant intruder jumps over the wall which was protecting the holy palace, guards are placed around the compounds of the stone cathedral which Luna didn't find too difficult to evade.

That was until she reached the concrete wall of the palace, Luna had no other choice but to climb it to get to the window which was conveniently placed there.

The princess uses her scythe to throw herself up there, but Luna didn't enter silently because the smashing of glass could be heard thoroughout the garden of the cathedral.

Luna stumbles up off of the broken glass but it's already too late, guards enter the room which resembles a library and they point their spears, axes and swords at her with anger and curiosity in their eyes.

One of the guards says in a condescending tone "It's only a little girl, I thought it was gonna be one of those assassins from the albion country." The guard looks at Luna and asks "Who are you, little girl? Are you lost?"

Luna smiles and says in a cheerful tone "Yes! I am lost, I'm looking for pope since I need to ask him something, do you know where he is?"

The guards laugh loudly.

When the guard stops laughing to catch his breath he says in a tired tone "The pope sees noone little girl but I can tell him you came to see him, What should I tell him?"

Luna replies with a tone of annoyance "I must see him! I am Death ruler of the Underworld! And some simple humans won't stop me from achieving my goal."

The guards go silent, the ones who are smiling suddenly go blanked face with suprise in their eyes.

It was a funny site for Luna because she started laughing at the grown mens faces with a childish giggle.

The guard says in a serious but scared tone "You can't be serious, a girl this young can't be the destroyer of life." He adds rhetorically "right?"

The princess answers in a playful tone "I'm not that young, I'm eighteen, almost nineteen."

The guards look down, but then they prepare their weapons and one of them say in an none enthusiastic tone "Kill the Underworlder, even if she does look innocent."

The guards charge at her but Luna summons her scythe right away and cuts the charging soldiers in half, the blood of the guards painted the books and walls red.

Only one guard was left and it was the one who was talking to Luna, he looks at her with his weapon gripped tight but he couldn't swing.

It was either from fear or just that Luna looked too much like his daughter, he closes his eyes and says as he falls to his knees "The pope is on the third floor, now kill me quickly."

The blood covered princess walks right past the guard and she whispers in his ear quietly "I don't kill, unless they deserve it."

The man collapses, not from death but from shock.

Luna carries on, and manages to clean herself up again with her magic while she makes the comment "Humans sure are messy creatures."

That's when she finally reaches a pair of big wooden doors with golden crosses nailed onto them, Luna pushes the door open and sees the pope.

He is wearing white robes with yellow lines on them, and a cross on his hat. He looks old with gray hair and a wrinkled face, his eyes are blue and still filled with life.

The pope says in a loud tone which echoes throughout the large room "I know who you are, you are Death IV. I had sent an attack on you but you seemed to have lived, not surprising since your the most strongest being in the universes."

Luna replies with abit of sadness in her tone "No, I am not him. I am his daughter Luna Death V!" She throws her scythe upwards which causes it to disappear.

The popes eyes widen as he realises Luna looks human, he says in a surprised tone "You can't be Death, you look too human."

Death gets closer to the pope and his eyes widen even more, he says while pointing at Luna's hetrochromia eyes "Those eyes! I know what you are, you shouldn't exist, please don't kill me! I'll tell you everything, so please."

Luna stops with a surprised look and asks "Tell me everything, including what you know about me."

The pope begins to explain "First off I don't know what you are but I know where to go, let me borrow your map." He places a marker on Luna's Underworld map.

The pope carries on "Now I bet you want to know why we attacked you, I was told to by God himself."

Luna's eyes open wide and says "That can't be possible, the celestials died when the universe was created."

The pope says "No, that's what they wanted us to believe, because it would hurt the balance of the world if we knew they existed."

Luna asks "Then why did God want my father gone?"

The pope looks down and says "That is something I don't know, but all I can say is that you are connected to this."

The princess turns around to leave while looking at her map, but then the pope says in a serious tone "I'm sorry, but I sent my troops to attack the camp you took over."

Luna turns and shouts "What!? Stop them now!"

The pope with a sad look says "I can't, the message wouldn't get there in time but maybe you could. Please stop them, I thought I was fighting an evil being but meeting you has made me question that."

Luna looks towards the doors and runs as fast as she could.
