The Skeleton Princess

Chapter 13 - Rescue

As Lucy and Max are holding each other in a tight embrace, a sudden explosion happens outside.

Then shouting of the skeletal knights and other people who Max didn't know were being heard in the silent stone room, Max pushes Lucy away and stands up preparing his sword which lays on the bed.

Max looks at Lucy who's eyes were still red and swollen and says in a sad tone "I have to go Lucy, I'll be back, I promise."

Lucy doesn't say anything, she just nods while wiping away the liquid build up in her eyes.

Max slams open the wooden door which separated the outside world to their's and runs towards the sound of explosions with a fast pace, Lucy stands up then drops on the bed, she feels tired.

When Max reaches the gate he sees the knights all lining up ready to defend against the attackers, Max being the most powerful knight takes charge and stands before all of his legion.

Max says in a loud commanding voice which he would never use against the girl he loves "We must defend what is Death's, till the very end of our existence! Now charge!"

The knights let out a battle cry and follow Max who has already left the camps protective walls, the army that's attacking the royal knights is a large group of humans all coming out of the gate, they have much more power than the last group.

This though doesn't stop Max and his followers because he still charges at them with his lightening speed, the humans also charge without hesitation too.

Max reaches the army first and he starts to slash at the humans from all directions, up, down, left, right, nowhere is safe when Maxilla Boneton is on the battlefield.

The other skeletal knights put up a good fight, but like all Maxilla's other battles, he's always alone in the end.

The army surrounds him but his resolve still doesn't waver, he isn't doing this for Luna anymore, he's doing this to protect the zombie maid he loves with all his heart.

Max's eyes light up red and he keeps slashing all the humans who come near him until finally a soldier hits his leg causing him to trip.

Max looks up at the surrounding humans and he closes his eyes preparing for his unstoppable death, that's until a loud crash rumbles throughout the battlefield.

Everyone including Max looks at the direction this came from in surprise and they see an even larger army, but this one was made up of beast folk.

The leader of this army is on a giant white wolf, he wears a black helmet with white armour which has the blood keep kingdom symbol on it.

This new army all charge towards the humans which have dwindled in numbers due to Maxilla's and his legions sacrifices, Max gets up feeling the high moral of this beast army giving him energy.

The army defeats the humans with ease, hardly any humans were able to escape through the glowing black door, Max looks towards the leader of this army and asks in a curious tone "Who're you?"

The white knight points towards the camp and all the beast folk travel towards the mini fort, Max follows the leader unable to sense a sinister aura.

Once the two knights reach the camp the white knight takes off his helmet and the person is Pip, the cat guy who Luna saved a while back.

Pip says in his usual high pitch tone "I came to melp since you saved me."

Max stares at the cat guy for a few seconds when suddenly Max starts to pet him and he says in a cheerful tone "Awwwww your so cute!"

Luna runs through the night over the roofs of the silent city, her throut hurts from the constant running but she doesn't care.

That's when she finds it, the shop where she first appeared here.

The tired princess opens the door and looks at the mirror she first came through, she puts her hand on the surface of the cold mirror but it didn't work!

She pushes again but nothing happens, eventually, she pushed so hard that the glass smashed.

She falls to her knees with her hands covered in blood from the shards of glass, tears begin to fall from her eyes.

She shouts a rhetorical question with a broken voice "Why does this always happen to me, why does everyone I care for die!?"

That question is answered though, by a dark presence in the room, it answers in a hallow echo "It's because you don't know how to use your powers of Death, if you can't control it then it'll try to control you."

Luna looks towards the dark presence and she asks "What are you? I don't feel anything from you, and what do you mean powers of Death? I'm adopted."

The dark being starts to disappear but it says in it's echoed voice "When all of this is over come to Death chasm, I'll answer all of your questions. Just use your father's powers to get back to your friends."

The room falls silent.

Luna stands up wiping away her tears and she summons her scythe, that's when it feels like she's had these powers for years and she slashes reality itself.

A cut appears floating in the antique shop, it connects to the gate.

Luna walks towards the portal without looking back, she suddenly appears next to the black gate.

Preparing for combat she runs towards the camp but notices that the army isn't here, there are signs of battle but there's nothing.

When Luna reaches the camp she sees the beast folk all guarding the mini fortress, and she finally notices Max petting a certain cat guy.

Relieved she walks towards the two with a smile on her face.
