Josh kept staring at his watch, a worried expression plastered across his face. It had been half an hour after Davina had passed out. She had been there on the floor, completely still, her hand tightly squeezed by Josh's.
At this point, he was worried. Was everything okay? Was it supposed to last that long? Nevertheless, Josh couldn't help but worry. Davina's hand felt much heavier and colder, as if life was being sucked out of her body slowly. Her face though was expressionless, neither pain nor fear being shown. But what indeed was different was the colour of her cheeks, the usual bright natural blush they had, had vanished as soon as she had collapsed on the floor.
On her left, the Original was in the same condition as Davina was, or perhaps in a much worse. His neck was abnormally twisted thanks to the little witch's trick from before, Davina's spell preventing him from recovering. All Josh wanted to do that moment was to punch the unconscious Kol straight in his face. But the fear of him waking up kept him from doing so.
Josh slowly sat on the floor next to his brave friend. He would wait. He would wait as long as it took, he would stand beside her for days if it was needed, her loyal guard and friend. Yes he was willing to do anything.
But a certain someone would not allow that to happen.
"Davina? Are you in there?"
Footsteps could be heard from outside the room, approaching the attic. Josh shot on his feet, bending a bit his back in order to keep holding Davina's hand. Panic took over him, his heart racing and racing as the click of the intruder's heels against the floor were closing in. What now, what now? Were anyone to see Kol here in this condition, everything would blow up! Not to mention the fact that Davina was in a state were she could defend herself. Sure, Josh would protect her of course, but what if the person that was coming was a Mikealson? He had no chance of winning against them!
"Davina?" the voice sounded much closer, as if the person was standing right outside the door. After a couple of minutes there was a knock on the door, then a second one and a third...
Josh held back his breath; if the person was a vampire, which was most likely true, then they could hear even the slightest sound. Josh didn't even think of concentrating on the person's voice to recognise them since the only thing he was thinking about was what if they discovered what was happening in the attic.
What kind of an excuse should he use? What if he could not persuade them? What if they knew about what was going on all along?
"D, why aren't you-" the door flew open, Marcel storming in the room with a worried expression on his face. Well, crap. Marcel's eyes locked on Josh, then they landed on Davina's unconscious body. But when they were truly staring in shock was when they saw the person who was on the ground right next to her. His mood instantly switched from worried to furious, slamming the door behind. "What the hell is going on here? Why's Kol here?!"
With his free hand, Josh raised his hand defensively in front of his chest and gulped. "Marcel, I'll explain everything. Just, calm down okay?"
Marcel's tensed chest was going up and down. It was blatantly obvious he was trying to control his anger. After a few seconds, he released a big breath and eyed him suspiciously. “You better start talking Josh. Why is Kol here and why is Davina like that?”
Josh sighed. “Davina has a plan, Marcel. And he needed Kol for that.”
Marcel chuckled ironically, scratching his forehead with his thumb and index finger. “Wait a minute, don't tell me Davina has to do with Kol's return to New Orleans? Klaus said he was even surprised by that but Davina told me... Ugh I can't believe her.” Marcel shook his head disappointedly. “Don't tell she did that Josh.”
