He presses him lips into a thin line. Mr. Park shifts his view away from me to his desk drawer on his left side.
"Tell me Eunji do you play cards perhaps?" He sets a deck of cards in front of me. Why did he change the subject?
"I haven't played them since I was in high school..." His lips curled into a smirk.
"Did you know it's quick and efficient
way to learn strategy?""No..." I answered uncertained. Is there a point to these questions?
"It's a way to understand someone's mindset." He shuffled the cards through his hands, smoothly and swiftly.
I feel a stabbing sensation in my head as he does this. My mind throbbing.
I shift my body uncomfortably in my seat that was directing in front of the much older man. I concentrate on the cards as they shift in number, and shape. However, not in color. All are the same color, red.
"I have always been fond of the rawness of red..." Red. I said to myself. I could hear the tapping of shoes echo in the distance than close to my ear. My vision blurred for a split second.
"Have I bore you, Ms. Jung?" I blink at him a few times.
"No." I force out between my clenched teeth. What's wrong with me?
"I think I should head back to my room."
"So soon?" His tone was slightly dejected yet laced with something along the lines of mock.
"Thank you for having me, Mr. Park" I was about to bow when he raised his hand up and out to me. I stare at his hand.
I reach up my hand slowly to meet his. He firmly grips my hand. The shatter of glass entered my ears. I instinctively retrack back, trying to tug my hand out of his grasp.
A flash of a figure hovering above my limp body. I blink a few times. Instead, he tightened the grip around my slender hand.
"T-Thank you," I said once again. His soft smile increased in size on his lips into a diabolical grin, "It was my pleasure, Jung Eunji."
My heart instantly dropped into my stomach. His fingertips driving into my skin searching for a peek at the crimson diamond that laid under the thin layer of white skin.
This voice, that grin, the grip.
My body couldn't move. I closed my eyes, the burning tears filling up to the brim. My throat went completely dry. My heart in a haywire of emotions.
His presence neared my right side, cold and strong. A horrid vivid nightmare spring to life.
He brushed his lips on my ear, I could feel his smirk pressed against the shell. His voice like the haunting, breathy whisper of death itself, "Did you miss me?"
