Soohyuk bursts into a fit of laughter that eventually subsides.
He completely shrugs off Chanyeol's accusation, leaving it on the table like every other question.
He tugs open a compartment from his desk and takes out a pack of cigarettes.
Lighting the end of the white stick once it was placed between his lips. Making brief eye contact with me, he winks at me.
Does he think this is funny?
"Stop fucking around." Chanyeol blurts out. I immediately look at him in shock.
His father huffed a sigh then a puff of smoke followed. His index finger and thumb held the lightened stick of death. Soohyuk darts his tongue out to wet his lips.
"No need to use that kind of language. We can have a civil conversation."
"Civil conversation? You must be insane if you think that this is a civil topic."
He laughs, seemingly amused by Chanyeol's outrage, "You never cease to amaze me, son."
"I'm not your son. I never was." Chanyeol explained with hurt hanging at the end his words. "I'm nothing but a pawn."
"I'm surprised that you're smart enough to figure that much out." Soohyuk curtly replies.
Chanyeol visibly clenches his jaw together.
"I never really liked you. You act just like your mother, a nuisance."
Chanyeol tries to wear an indifferent expression but his eyes can't hide his vulnerability. "What does my mother have to do with this?"
"What does she have to do with this?" Mr. Park mocks. "If that women hadn't tried to look for your mother. She would be alive."
Soohyuk puts the cigarette between his lips again and walks towards the window overlooking the city.
"What are you saying..." Chanyeol questions hesitantly. His strong posture slowly falling away with every word that his father says.
"That women found out about the real story behind her sudden disappearance." Soohyuk places the cigarette into a glass ashtray near the window seal. Then he turns his body to us, arms crossed over his chest. He directs his attention to Chanyeol wearing a blank expression. "And that I was the one responsible for her death."
I froze as I stared at Soohyuk.
He killed Yoona because she knew what he had done. She knew his secret and paid for it. Chanyeol not only lost Yoona but his own mother at the hands of his own father.
Now he had us in his office revealing all of his dark secrets to me and Chanyeol like they won't reach a judge in court. There's a cost to knowing this information. There has to be but what is the cost.
Is he going to kill one of us? The both of us?
I look over at Chanyeol, who's still in his seat across from me. Yet the Park Chanyeol perceived isn't the one I have come to know with his lips pressed tightly together and eyebrows furrowed. The air around him, dark and distant.
"Chanyeol..." I try to call out to him but he doesn't respond.
I briefly glance over at Mr. Park and he is wearing a smirk on his lips. Chanyeol whispers something before I'm forced to witness the damage that his father has inflicted on him.
He fell apart.

Did you expect Chanyeol's mother to be the "reason" behind Yoona's end?
I've actually been hinting at this throughout the story. Mentioning Chanyeol's mother at certain times.
I had two versions of this scene and how it would play out. I tried to pick the one that sounded more like Chanyeol's father.
Also, I found it funny how I had to read through my old chapters again to remember where I was going with this ending.
Thanks for reading this update.
