Beach days - Ross

I hate the beach. I've always hated the beach. But yet, I've always loved the thought of the beach. I've loved the thought of palm trees and white sand so warm you can't walk on it. Oceans that are crystal clear, so transparent that you can see the little fish swimming and the bright vivid colours of coral reefs. Here in England there's none of that. Here in England the wind is cold, the sand is colder and the water is so dull. There's no coral reefs but you may be lucky to see some jellyfish bobbing along.

Why, when I know I hate the beach, did I let Ross manage to convince me to come to the beach? It's not even that sunny, the weather is dull and cloudy. Typically British, though it isn't raining yet.
"Why do we need a beach ball?" I ask "is it necessary?"
"It's a beach day" he laughs "of course the beach ball is necessary"
"Do you have sun cream?" I ask
"It's cloudy" he shakes his head
"Yes. But we both know how easy it is for me to burn" I sigh
"There's some in the bathroom cupboard" he replies
"I don't get why you even want to go to the beach" I complain walking up the stairs
"Because, it'll be fun" he reassures me
"Of all the beaches in the world" I start "why a little beach in the North of England?"
"At least it's not the Arctic" he sasses
"May as well be" I pout placing the sun cream in the bag
"Come on, you'll  have fun" he answers placing his arm on my shoulder

The sun is actually starting to poke out from the clouds by the time we arrive at the beach, I knew I was right to ask where the sun cream was. I'm wearing my flip flops, which are extremely annoying to walk in.  The thing about when it's sunny is that everyone feels the need to come out of the house, it's like they've never seen the sun before. This causes many problems, shops become crowded, there's no place to park the car and middle aged men feel the need to go around without a top on.

"I told you it was going to get sunny" I laugh as were carrying our picnic bag and beach bags along
"Okay, okay" he holds his hands up "you told me"
"let's go and find a place to put our things" I reply, trailing my bag

We find a spot next to a family who have brought a dog with them, quite clearly paying no attention to the 'no dogs allowed' signs. The dog has apparently found a new friend, as it places its stick at Ross' feet. He throws the stick and the dog goes bounding after it and into the sea. When the dog comes back it decides to shake the water off causing droplets of water to go all over me. I reach for my towel frowning, which causes Ross to laugh.

As soon as he's blew the beach ball up he throws it off me. I laugh, pick it up and throw it back at him. A few minutes later I find the ball in my lap again.
"Do you want me to play pass with you?" I ask
"Finally, she gets it" he answers pumping his fists into the air
"Stop missing the ball" he calls from about ten metres away
"If you threw it properly" I retort
"If you caught it properly" he mimics
"That's so it" I laugh hitting the ball "ha, you missed"
"Ha, you missed" he replies throwing it back and coming to join me
"What do you want to do now?" I ask
"Go in the sea" he questions
"Okay" I laugh "race you there"

Once in the sea it isn't as bad as it seems, it's warm once you're in the sea. I'm not a very good swimmer so I make sure to stay where my feet can touch the ground. I scream as something grabs my leg, only realising moments later that it was Ross.
"That wasn't funny" I huff splashing him with water
"I'm ready to eat now" he replies
"Me too actually" I agree
"Let's go" he reaches for my hand

The sun is warm on my skin as I get out of the sea but the wind provides a chill. Once were back to where our towels are Ross holds mine around me while I get out of my swimming costume and back into my clothes.
"I've had fun" I laugh taking a bite out of a sandwich before spitting it back out into a napkin
"These sandwiches are inedible" Ross frowns at his sandwich
"Do you want to get chips?" I ask
"It's better than this" he holds up his sandwich before placing it back in the bag
"Soggy and sandy sandwiches definitely aren't nice" I sigh putting the food back into the bag

We put our bags back in the car before making our way along to the chip shop. Ross gets fish and chips, while I get sausage and chips. I'm sat enjoying my food and looking around at all the people who are sat in the cafe. Some are old couples who have appeared to have been together, maybe one day in the distant future that will be Ross and I. Some are families with small children, maybe in the near future that could be us. Some are couples who seem to have had the same idea as Ross and I.
Everywhere I look I always manage to picture that being us, because I couldn't imagine a life without Ross.
"Do you want an ice cream?" Ross asks, probably hoping I'll say yes so he can get an ice cream
"Why not?" I laugh

We make our way out of the cafe and down to the ice cream van that has a massive queue.
"What would you like?" Ross asks once we're at the front of the queue
"I'll have one of those calypso things" I answer
"One calypso and one ice cream with sauce and a flake" he tells the woman serving
"I've had a really good day" I sigh stealing some of Ross' ice cream
"Me too" he laughs "didn't I tell you that you'd enjoy coming to the beach with me?"
"You did" I confirm looking up to him
"I'm glad you had fun" he replies kissing me softly

A/n: I don't know if I've said this before but, Ross imagines are my favourite to write. I dunno why I just find them really nice to write, like I always find I'm happiest with how my Ross imagines turn out :)
How are you enjoying these imagines?
Thanks for reading.
