"GASP" I breathed heavily as I quickly checked my surroundings. I was relieved to find out I was safe and it was just a horrible nightmare. I groaned in annoyance, as I still couldn't get up. "How much more until I can get out of this damn bed?" I said to myself, wanting to go outside or walk around once again. Maybe soon, I had a feeling it wouldn't be long until I could be on my own again. I looked at my books, they were in the same position since I left them, expect, one book was missing. "If you are looking for your book, I have it right here" I turned over to see Levi, sitting on a stool, clearly interested in the book. "L-Levi, how long have you been here?" I asked him. He kept reading, ignoring me until he was done with whatever chapter he was reading. "Been here a while. Since you were asleep, I decided to snatch one of your books. Apparently it's very interesting, where did you get it?" "Mikasa got it for me at an open market," I responded as I picked up one of the books, wiping off small specks of dust. "Interesting, it's been a while since I read a good book. Actually, since I read book" Levi sets the book back on the nightstand. As he mentioned that, memories came into my head, remembering when we were young in the underground....
*Flashback time!*
"Be careful you two! And come before dawn!" Isabelle and Farlan nodded as they left the house. I told them to get some groceries for tonight's dinner, as we didn't have anything for tonight. I headed over to Levi's room, who was peacefully reading a book to himself. "Levi? What do you have there?" I asked. He calmly turned from his book and brought his attention to me. "Just reading a book. Supposedly it's about what lies above the Underground" "Really?!?" I snatched his book without asking and scanned though the pages. Since I couldn't read, I just looked at the pictures, and stared in awe. "Levi, what are those three walls?" I asked, pointing towards the picture with three wall and each having some kind of elegant women. "Those are the three walls that surround us and keep us safe from the titans" He pointed to the first wall, which was really close towards titan territory. "'This is Wall Maria, it's the first wall and is the closest to titan territory. But the walls are made of a pretty strong structure, so it's unbreakable by titans." He pointed to the next wall. "This is Wall Rose, it is surrounded by Wall Maria, so it's pretty well protected." Lastly, he pointed towards the last wall. "And finally, Wall Sina. Surrounded by both Maria and Rose, it's probably less likely that titans will reach Wall Sina. Also, it's where our lousy and lazy king lives" I giggled as Levi mentioned that. Many townsfolk have mentioned negative things about the king. They say he's too scared to do anything, and abuses his power. I never met the king, so I didn't think much of him or cared. "Levi, so you can read?" I asked him. He nodded, "Sort of, I only understand a few words, not many though." "Could you teach me some words?" I asked him, hoping he would say yes. "Seems like too much work. Plus, you are pretty are a pretty slow learner." I pouted and asked him once again. "Come on Levi! Please? Just a few words?" Levi sighed in annoyance as I kept begging nonstop. "Fine, only a few words, but after stop bothering me okay?" He said. I nodded quickly, knowing I probably won't keep that promise. We spent the whole evening reading the book and learning new words. I was a fun time, and I really enjoyed being with Levi, having a feeling we wouldn't be able to share time alone in a while.
*Flashback Over!*
"So have you learned to fully read Levi?" I asked him. Levi nodded, "Since I became Captain, I was taught how to read by a tutor, so I learned much more than back in the Underground," Levi replied. "That's nice. You are becoming smarter by the day." Levi's cheeks tinted a bright pink as he quickly turned around having his back face me. "Thanks, but it's not surprising." Levi walked towards my bed, sitting down besides me. "So, how have you been feeling?" He asked. "Well I don't feel pain anymore, it's just my legs still seem to be motionless," I sighed, embarrassed that Levi had to see me useless in a bed. He sighed and lied down, setting his head getting on my lap. I felt sudden heat raise along my cheeks. He closed his eyes for a few seconds. "This is surprisingly comforting, I haven't felt your touch in years." He said, his voice hinting some kind of happiness. I decided to stroke his hair, the soft feeling surrounding her fingers. Levi didn't mind at all to my surprise, since he didn't like people touching his hair. "You know (Y/N), I never had feelings for Petra, although, I did have feelings of despair as she was in my squad. Not just her, but for my whole squad." Levi's tone having some kind of sadness. "I'm sorry for your fallen squad, but, at least you have been given a new squad, right?" Levi let out his famous 'tch' as I said that. "Hah! What a new Squad I have received. Eren is obsessed with killing titans, Mikasa throws death glares at me, Armin is a scared for his life, Sasha always steals our food for supper, Connie is always sleeping and relaxing too often, Jean brags about how he has 'good looks' and," Levi let out a deep sigh. "What a squad I have been given." I giggled once again, remembering how I was good friends with each one of them. "Don't worry, there will come a time when you will be proud of calling them your squad" I encouraged him. "Let's hope your right (Y/N)." Levi said as he opened his eyes and stood up from his my lap. "I must be leaving now (Y/N), Armin should be bringing you your supper soon," Levi told me as he grabbed the black jacket he has been wearing. "Wait, Levi, before you leave, I need to ask you something," I was hesitant at first but then just asked,"If the titans never existed, what would the world be like?" Levi stood still, pondering at my question. "Well, the world would be free. We would be able to explore beyond the walls, less deaths would happen, we wouldn't have these jobs anymore." I nodded in agreement at his answer. "What would you do Levi?" "I wouldn't be risking my life fighting Titans, I would leave the Underground and explore the wonders of this world. And hopefully, live long enough to die of old age." Levi said, wishing that was his future. I smiled. I also had the same idea in mind, except we would also have a future together. "That sounds like you would've had a great future" I said happily. Levi looked at me, his face emotionless but his eyes shone with happiness. "Well, see you hopefully soon again, I must get work done." And with that, he left the room, and emptiness filled the room. I didn't feel like sleeping, so I continued reading my books, as it was the only thing I could do at the moment. I picked up the book Levi was reading, wanting to find out what was interesting. It was then I noticed a ripped piece of paper stuck onto the book. I picked the paper, and unfolded it carefully. When fully unfolded, it read, "(Y/N), once you get better, I have tell important I need to show you" I closed the note, and felt a beating jolt of joy, suspecting on what it could be.
