Finally, after months, for what seemed like years, I am able to stand and walk. Not big steps, but small steady ones. I stand from my bed, my feet touching the cold ground once again. Relief flows over my body, as my numb feet began to recognize the familiar surroundings. I looked towards the door, and remembered what Levi told me the last time he visited me.
"When you get better, there is something I want to show you"
I begin to murmur those words to myself, and then realize, it has been quite a while sine Levi even visited me. I walked out of my room, hoping I would encounter someone. Suddenly, I felt a head knock hard onto mine. As striking automatic pain began to develop, and I rubbed my head for comfort, "Ahhhhhh." "Sorry (Y/N)! I didn't mean to bump into you, I apologize dearly!" "Armin it's fine, there's no need to apologize, plus, I feel my brain is starting to function normally again. After all those months laying on a bed, my head began to daze off." Armin smiled for a moment before realizing what he was told to do. "Oh yes! (Y/N)! I was supposed to come over and tell you something, but I guess you are here already. Levi said that he wants you to work by this Thursday sharp. I feel like it's too early though. Hasn't been that long since you have started to walk again, heck, hasn't even been a week!" I shook my head and told Armin, "Don't you worry newbie, I've handled more than you could ever imagine, I may seem weak, but I could handle more than you could probably handle unbruised." Armin rolled his eyes, thinking I was being some kind of a show-off. "Oh really? Guess you're pretty skilled with Levi's nose eh?"
I choked on my own spit. I would have never expected anyone to say that, especially out of Armin! "Go clean the horse stalls, Now." I told him sternly, my voice clearly showing no emotion. Armin began to sweat, and left as soon as I said that.I decided to walk around for a good few hours, trying to adjust how to walk, just like how a baby learns from it's mother. Speaking of mothers, I couldn't quite remember my own mother well, I only remember her being a young servant, maybe the age of fourteen, cradling me in her loving arms. She had bright green eyes, that reflected warmth and love. I don't remember much after that, only those moments since birth. That is my youngest memory, besides how I ended on the streets. I always hear soldiers wailing about missing there parents, and how they miss their parents. Most of them end up dead. I never knew why parents are so important, they just distract you from reality, and before you know it, they are gone from your life, like a flower that is withering away during the winter. I shook those thoughts away, but they kept coming back. How was Levi's past? Before I met him. He never mentioned his parents, and I was interested, but maybe it was something he would decide not to discuss of. "Oi! What are you doing just standing there? You're blocking my way you know." I turned over, there was the only person who I knew would be rude towards the whole universe, Levi. "Morning Captain!" I said cheerfully with a big smile on my face. Levi rolled his eyes. "You're probably the only person who doesn't fear me and run away." "Besides Erwin and Hanji sir!" I responded with a chirp. Levi had his hands crossed over his shoulders, and he tightened the grip on his shoulders. "It's not sir...Levi" He said, sounding very close to blowing. I decided not to annoy him longer, as I didn't want to lose my life today. "Sorry Levi, I just wanted to play around, that's all." Levi sighed, and accepted my apology, as always. "You're such a nuisance. Anyway, I hope Armin has told you tha-" "I have to come back to work on Thursday, yes!" I chirped. "Then my work is done here, got to go then," Before he could leave, I pulled his arm towards me, his chest meeting mine, "What do you want?" He asked, wanting to make himself sound annoyed. "Levi, do you remember your mother?" I asked. "(Y/N), do you really want to chat about mothers right now, if so, I could hire a nanny to come take care fo-"
"No Levi! You're not understanding what I'm saying! Do you remember your mother, your BIOLOGICAL mother?" Levi just stood watching me for a few seconds, before letting out a loud sigh, "I remember having a mother, she was the most beautiful women I have ever seen. We had many similarities, but I don't know much other than that." I nodded and decided to leave him be. "Well, I'll go now, sorry for bothering you about a silly thing." I began to walk away until I heard him speak behind me. "Do you remember the letter I wrote to you a few months ago?" Levi mentioned about his letter. As soon as I heard that, I remembered that I was going to ask him about the letter. "Oh yes! I remember your letter! What's so important?" I asked him curiously. "It's well, never mind, I'll speak about it later, right now you should focus getting ready to come back to work." I felt disappointment, because I wanted to hear what Levi was going to tell me, but he stopped himself in his tracks. "It's fine! I also need time to organize and get ready, has been a while since I've spent busy hours in my office." I said with a dumb smile on my face. "Alright, then I must go off then" Levi said before patting my shoulder and leaving me be. I waved goodbye and he walked away, and a small rush of sadness came over my body. Once out of sight, I headed over to my office, where I spotted Erwin leaving a pile of papers ready for me. I sighed as I saw that he brought a large pile of papers, and at that point I felt like staying in bed again. "Your legs may be getting better, but your hands are perfectly fine to fill out these papers." Erwin said with a smile. At that point I just wanted to punch him hard in the face, but I knew that was a bad idea, for two reasons. "Thanks Erwin for bringing in these papers, really appreciate it," I responded sarcastically. "Well I'm glad you are able to work again. Anyways you do remember the Titan that broke your legs before right?" He asked. I nodded in response. "Well while you were recovering, we have captured her, and she seems to be somehow related to Eren, she is able to transform into a Titan herself." I felt my jaw drop. Another human who is like Eren? How could this be? How many could be titans and we don't even know it? Could the enemy be hiding within us all this time? "And what did you do with her? We must get answers!" Erwin shook his head. "Unfortunately we can't, once she was defeated by Eren, she became entrapped into a hard crystal. We've been trying to get her out, but it's unlikely it will break anytime soon. Who knows, she could be trapped there for years to come." I groaned in annoyance. This girl was our chance to find the truth about the titans, and maybe even get rid of them once and for all.
*SLAM!*
Was the sound as I threw my books onto the floor. I had so much paperwork, I felt like I needed a break, especially knowing that the titan responsible for my injury was now in some kind of preserved state. I looked out my window, the sun still shining brightly in the sky. I decided to close my eyes, and try to imagine my mother. She had beautiful red luscious locks and green eyes, and a young women indeed. She was very young when she had me, as she was married to a man she did not even know, in order for her family to have one less mouth to feed. I knew she was abused, and luckily I wasn't abused. She probably didn't want a child so young, she was FORCED to have a child so young. I don't clearly remember how or why I ended on the streets. As soon as I wanted to think deeper, I heard my door slam open, which caused a sudden jolt to rush over me. "Who's there! Haven't yo-" "(Y/N)! It's Eren! He has finally woken up!" I looked over to see Armin, tears of joy falling from his puffed eyes. "What do you mean?"
I asked, starting to feel worried and sick. "Just come with me, Eren wants to see you!"
