Mixed POV:
Alice, while not the fastest of the family was the most graceful and limber of them. It made catching her quite hard and predicting her movements even harder. That's why whenever Bella had made a last-minute dive toward her, an attempt to tackle her and gain the upper hand in their little race, it was no surprise whenever Alice had ducked out of the way just as Bella's body landed a couple of feet away from her. It was laughable, how simple life felt in that moment.
Jumping over the stunned Bella she attempted to keep her place in 1st, only to be grasped around the ankle and forced to retaliate as she spun to prevent her from hitting the forest floor. Bella gave a truimupet grin at gaining the upper hand, and in her quick attempt to keep it failed to notice the tree branch that decided to block her path. Within seconds she had slammed gut-first into the branch which sent her tumbling forward as she tried to fix her footing on the seemingly unsteady ground.
Alice's laughter was heard throughout the woods as she darted around Bella's reaching hand and back into her 1st lead spot.
The journey towards the house was filled with back-and-forth moments, as they attempted to best each other in speed and flexibility. However, as Bella tumbled from the treeline after Alice she didn't expect to actually fall over Alice, who'd frozen in place at seeing Jane Volturi.
Alice's peaceful face was stuck in a frown, eyeing the short girl with contempt; she was under the impression that Volturi would be less inclined to seek Bella out so early after her leaving.
Jane gave her sinister smirk in return, before allowing her gaze to drift over to Bella who had a blank face, "Hello Jane."
"Hello Isabella," her name dripped from her lips with such a sticky sweetness it made her insides cringe, "I was told to deliver a new assignment to you."
Opening her cloak she revealed a thick yellow folder, she held it out to Bella, who demonstrated little hesitation in grabbing it.
"Any rules, tips, or desires?" Bella asked, grasping the folder in between her hands, tempted to open it but knowing Aro would be less than pleased if Alice; or any of the Cullens, knew what was in it.
Jane sighed, "Master Aro demanded quick haste and secrecy."
Looking down at the folder she nodded, "The typical assignment?"
For Bella, a typical assignment would consist of her hunting down vampires, or other beings, for the Volturi. In most cases, it was to destroy those who dared to speak ill of the Volturi. However, on occasion she did experience a case where she would only check in on Coven, and ensure they were still following the law, before leaving; though these cases were rare for her to conduct as it was more common for Jane and Demetri to take them.
Jane nodded, her presence growing closer as she tapped the folder in Bella's hands, "Yes, as per usual, all needed information is contained in the file."
Looking up Jane she gave a curt nod, "My equipment?"
"In the house provided to you by Master Aro, they should be located in the main bedroom."
Bella nodded, "Anything else?"
Jane smirked, her eyes gleaming as she leaned forward, "Try not to make a mess out of this one."
Before Bella could respond Jane had turned and fled the scene, though Bella had a feeling she would remain in proximity. While in most cases Bella was left without an escort, she doubted this would be one of them; mainly considering she had aligned herself with the Cullens.
Sighing Bella stared down at the folder in her hands, however, before she could debate on reading it then and there a hand replacing where Jane's had initially been caught her attention. Looking up at Alice she noticed the glint of worry in her eyes.
