The Talk

It took a few moments before a response was given in the form of a distant nod. Those three words could put a stop to anyone's heart, even a vampire whose heart was un-beating.

Almost as if it were common sense, those three words could entail one of two things. The first being really bad news, and the second being really good news.

As she sat back on the bed she couldn't help but hope the news being presented to her was anything but bad. However, as she patted the spot beside her, allowing Alice to sit next to her, she began to show a flicker of doubt as she began to fidget with her hands. It was unlike her, to show such nervousness, even in the face of Aro she knew what to expect, but with Alice, it was all so new to her that she couldn't help the feeling bubbling in her stomach.

"What would you like to talk about?"

Alice too seemed nervous, though her eyes shorn with regret. In a moment's breath she seemed to contemplate with herself before giving a nod; not aimed at anyone but herself, as she reached forward and grasped one of Bella's hands. Pulling said hand to her lap she began to rub soothing circles on the back of it, whether it was more so for her comfort or Bella's it was unsure. Maybe it was for them both.

Taking a deep breath she looked up and into Bella's eyes, "I didn't mean to bring back those memories. It's just, that you seem so uncaring and willing to follow them even after everything they did to you. I don't even know everything! But, that's not the point. I just wanted to explain myself to you. After you left Edward and Jasper talked to me, and I realized that I can have a bit of a temper. I want to apologize for yelling at you, I know it hurt you and I shouldn't have done it."

Alice's eyes were downcast by the end of her rant, and it was obvious she didn't mean anything by what she said, she was just trying to understand. Turning her hand over Bella grasped Alice's, giving it a light squeeze.

"Alice, it's okay. I just.. was worried. This is all new to me. Yes, some memories resurfaced, but you didn't hurt me, and I don't blame you for wanting to know what's going on. I would too if I were in your position."

"So, why can't you tell me about it then?"

Sighing Bella looked away, "Telling you anything would not only put you in harm's way, but it'd anger Aro as well."

Alice nodded her head in consent, "I understand, just, if you ever need help, please let me or my family know okay?"

Bella nodded before standing up and walking into the closet. After some debate, she settled on a simple pair of shorts and a shirt that was a bit big even on her. Walking out of the closet she hesitated momentarily before offering them to Alice. At her confused look, she gestured towards the door.

"I was thinking you'd like to be more comfortable, the bathroom is just down the hall, that is, if you'd like to stay the night. I am a bit tired."

Alice looked at her confused, "Tired? Vampires can't sleep though, right?"

Bella gave a soft laugh, "Normal vampires can't, I can however get a couple hours of rest per night, mainly on days like today."

"You were never normal were you?" It was an endearing phrase, the gleaming look in Alice's eyes gave that away, and her teasing smirk.

Bella grumbled as she once again gestured to the clothing, "Are you going to take it?"

Alice giggled as she gave a gentle smile before taking the already obviously too-big clothes and walking out of the room to the bathroom.

While she changed Bella went about tidying the bed, making sure the pillows were puffy before righting the disorganized blankets. Who doesn't tuck in their sheet? While it was a very human thing to do, it gave her a moment to think. She had to figure out a plan, and fast, knowing Aro he would expect results pronto. Maybe she could talk to the rest of the Cullens, or find out who the real leader of the Army is and bring them forth.

However, her thoughts were put on the back burner as Alice knocked once before reenting the room upon hearing Bella call her in.

The shirt was much too big on her, and the shorts fit though it was obvious the string around the waist was what enabled them to.

After appraising the attire Bella quickly deduced that she much preferred Alice in her clothing, though that could be the more animalistic side of her talking.

"My clothes look way better on you, maybe you should come over more often."

Alice laughed as she walked over, "Your clothes are twice my size, if anything I should bring my clothes here."

Bella shook her head, "Nuh huh, not allowed. My house, my clothes."

Alice smirked as she grew closer to Bella, looking up at her she leaned in slightly, "Does that mean at my house you'll wear mine?"

Bella gapped at her, "Your's would be way too small."

Reaching up she booped Bella on the nose, "Oh but that's very much the point," her voice changed mid-way, taking on a flirty tone.

Bella stared down at her, shocked, before shaking her head and lying down on the bed, Alice was quick to follow.

"Then again, maybe you just like seeing me in your clothes," Alice said as she adjusted herself to lay next to Bella who was still attempting to poof up the pillow.

She gave a slight shrug, neither disagreeing nor agreeing. However, the fact remained that she very much liked seeing her in her clothes, and even more so because her scent was on her. It was possessive of her, but something in her loved the fact that Alice's natural scent was beginning to mix with her own.

Upon seeing Bella's futile attempts at fluffing the pillow, and the twinge in her brow showing annoyance, Alice sighed and reached out.

Grasping Bella's arm she maneuvered her so she was lying on her chest, hand already running through her long hair.

Bella stiffened up momentarily, but as the hand continued its path over her scalp she couldn't help but relax, a low purr rumbling from her chest. As she cuddled even closer to Alice, her head moving to rest in the crook of her neck she couldn't resist the urge to place a gentle kiss there.

She felt Alice's intake of breath, along with the slight shift as she pulled her even closer.

Feeling her eyes droop Bella soon realized that she was dozing, sighing she attempted to snuggle in closer as she hummed out a low goodnight, drifting off at the sound of the echoing goodnight that followed.
