Tauriel slumped to the icy ground, tears streaking her face. She never knew that there could be so much pain in one creature! So much loss... So much loss. Now everything she had ever loved........ was gone.
The smell of sulphur lingered on the snowy breeze with the harsh sent of smoke burning her lungs. Everything seemed to be a daze. Men, elves, dwarfs and even an occasional Orc would scatter by. Some wounded, some lost, some weeping for a perished friend or brother, some rejoicing over reuniting with him. Tauriel's eyes drifted down to her numb hands covered in dirt and blood. Was it her own?Her thoughts then drifted to legolas, how he had risked his life for her, came to her side to defend her. If it weren't for him, she would be dead. In the cold ground with kili she would be buried that next morning . No one had ever been so loyal to her as legolas had. With out a fault he always seemed to be in the shadows, his eyes always on her, his presence soothing and one of the only things that had welcomed her and made her feel same. Even as a child, legolas was her guardian, with simple things, challenging her to be the best she could be, but in the most gentle of ways. So foreign to the way she had been treated. She was of low rank, a bother, but it never seemed to matter to legolas. As they grew he had become her faithful companion, friend, and...something else.
She then searched deep in her heart. She loved legolas, she always had. It had grown so gradually but so deep seeded. She knew it could never be, he was a prince. Silven elves were next to no importance, and the was not a drop of noble blood in her body. For so many years she had shunned her love for him. Tauriel remembered what Thailand had said " do not give him hope were there is none". There was no hope then, why would there be now?
The voice of her mother gently whispered in her ear " Love is hope" it said so softly she could barely catch the phrasing.
Tauriel looked to the sky, clouded with black and grey smudged clouds . Reality hit her like a tidal wave that had no intention of mercy. He left. He was gone now. She didn't have the faith to be strong any more, so she weeped. Heavy shudders raked her now frail body, as she took the ruin in around her."But I've lost him mother and I cant get him back! He has slipped from my grasp as every love has," Tauriel cried the tears falling like rain against her pail complexion.
" Yes you can" a voice spoke from behind her. Galandriel put a heavy hand on Tauriel's shoulder. "Do you know were he has gone?".
Tauriel shook her head. There was no telling, the expression on his face was so empty and void of all caring.
Galandriel turned to look at the horizon, her elvish eyes slit as if she were pondering or trying to remember something. The wind whistled as it ruffled her long white, crystal gown, and showing her bare feet. The dim light of the midday tired sun reflected off of her silver head piece, down her long white hair, giving her an almost eery angelic glow. She turning around again facing tauriel and looked down at her.
"He leaves to train the future king of Gondor. 60 years this task will take to be fulfilled. Until then, you must not disturb him."Tauriel started to think. Sixty years would go by in the blink of an eye, but until then what would she do? And in that time would his love endure? It was as if Galandriel had read her mind.
" Go to Mirkwood, king Thailand will be in need of a new captain of the guard. From what i have heard, the present elf in you position is not doing an exceptionable job."
The white she-elf took a step closer, tilting her head to assessed Tauriel closer and with compassion in her eyes."Do not let Legolas come back to a broken down kingdom. I hear of an ever rising threat in the forest. Do let the spiders over run his home".
Tauriel had completely forgot about the spiders! Oh how she wiAn amber of hope was lit as were her spirits. Suddenly her shoulders fell once more by remembering, " But i am banished! I am forbidden to enter the woodland relm. King Thailand will never allow it!" Tauriel spluttered.
" He will.". Tauriel turned her head and starred into the horizon. "how can you be sure?" she turned back but Galandriel was gone. Her mind was set she would go back to Mirkwood and plead for forgiveness and maybe, just maybe she cold get her old post back.
