Classes went by quickly, first went Language Arts. Then Science with Mr.Williams, he's tall and skinny with a good sense of humor. Social Studies went by next with Ms.Grate, she was extremely short with greased red hair tied back in a pony tail. Then Gym, with Mr. Lee and Ms. Anderson who apparently were best friends since middle school. Then came lunch, the period I dreaded.
I carried my bright pink and white, striped lunch box that had the word "Diva" in red script across it. I hated it just as much as how much I hated myself right now. I walked down the hallway by myself, my heels clicking on the floor, and catching gazes every step I took. I kept my head down, which I've never done in my life, and continued to walk.
I entered the cafeteria to be greeted by laughter, yelling, screaming, talking, and food being thrown. Like a usual day. I sat down at my table to see Ashlyn and Eve laughing at each other. Apparently they were trying to see how many crackers could fit in Eves hair, I giggled and they smiled at me. "Hey Ash, hey Eve." I said opening my lunchbox.
"Hey Jessica!" As they said that crackers tumbled out of Eves hair and onto the lunch-table. We all cracked up, and I opened my lunch box. Inside was a banana, mini water bottle, almonds, and what looked like half a pita pocket stuffed with lettuce and one piece of chicken. I sighed, I was looking forward to my usual slice of cold pizza and soda. Setting my lunch box aside I took a gulp of my water and joined the conversation.
"I know right isn't that delicious"
"Take cover!!!!"
Ashlyn flung a blueberry at Eve, she ducked and it landed on the ground behind her. We broke into fits of giggles, and when I stopped having a laugh attack I looked up to see Bree, Chrystal, and Rosie. They stood behind my friends and smiled at me, "Heyyy! What's up Rebecca!" Bree asked, her hand on her hip.
"First of all. My name is Jessica. Second, what are you doing here?" I asked in a bored tone. "Oh Hun. Didn't you get our note?" Rosie asked twirling a strand of her blonde hair. I took the note out of my pocket and tossed it on the table. "Yeah I got it, and I don't care about it." I said rolling my eyes. Look, they've been bullying me since forever and I'm not prepared to be nice to them now.
"Dear...come with us. Pleeeeease." Chrystal pleaded.
"No."
"Please Reb- I mean Jessica."
"No."
"PLEAAAAASE!!!!!" They all shouted.
This caught the lunch ladies eye, I looked worriedly at her. Then I turned back to them, "FINE!" I muttered, Bree clapped happily, took my hand, and led me outside the lunch room where no one could hear us. "Listen up Jessica. Because your pretty now you have to be one of us, whether you like it our not." Bree said crossing her arms.
I glared at her, "I wouldn't be one of you if my life depended on it. Sorry...you know I'm really not sorry what so ever." I said giving her a smile at the end, and turning to walk away. They quickly made a wall in front of me, all three of them had their hands on their hips. "I meant to say that your popular now, so you will sit with us everyday, laugh when we laugh, and you will not be unpopular." She snarled at me.
"And if you don't, we will ruin your life. So, what'll it be." I glared at her, thinking about what I wanted to say. "You know, I think I'll take my chances. I've dealt with your crap since I moved here and I think I can handle what you call 'ruining my life." I pushed past them and back to my normal lunch table.
"They blackmailed me."
"Aaaand."
"Yeaaah?"
"I told them I'll take my chances and here I am."
They both looked at me with shocked faces, "Bad choice Jessica." Ashlyn warned me. "What?" I asked, moving to the edge of my seat. "I know you've only been at this school for two years, but there's something you should know. Those girls, are eviiiil. The year before you came, there was this girl. Then Bree found out about her, and when she said no...she made her life horrible. So bad that she moved!"
I leaned back in my chair, "Oh no." Eve muttered. I looked up at her, "What?" I asked. The gave me a sympathetic look, and point to the other side of the cafeteria. My eyes trailed to where she pointed, and met a distressed Bree. She had her whole group of nearly 30 girls behind her complaining, and fake crying.
On the front of Bree's shirt was a giant brown stain, and at her feet, a empty soup can. I looked at my friends as Bree pointed at me, bursting in fake tears. "Let's go." I said, our whole table standing up. We were about to leave when someone grabbed my arm. He was tall, fit, had brown eyes, a buzz cut, and a football uniform. He's the most popular boy our grade, though my brother is the most popular in the school, he is, like I said, the most popular in the grade. He is also known as Noah. I hate him almost as much as I hate Bree.
"Let me go you hairy creep." I said trying to pull away. He held on tighter and laughed, causing his crowd of idiots to laugh as well. "Come on, it's just getting good!" He chuckled. "If you don't let me go now I will get my brother to beat you DOWN!" I threatened, pulling away harder. I watched as his friends moved around Ashlyn and Eve, holding them by the shoulder. They pushed me closer to the distressed Bree and her BFFS, as I tried to dig my heels into the ground.
