The rest of class was spent with Mr.Clark saying, "Why do I hear talking?!" And him sitting at his desk doing nothing, and on the rare occasion he actually taught us, he used a calculator. Class ended and I hurriedly ran to home room to pack up my stuff. Halfway through I remembered I had detention. The bell rang, and I stayed behind so I wouldn't get run over. Then, I slowly walked down the library where detention was always held. There was a room full of kids. Some of them were jocks who probably pulled a prank on a teacher, some kids who never talked to anyone, the slacker kids who never did their work, and my two friends waiting for me.
In the front of the room was Mr.Tide, he was a mellow man, the calmest teacher in school. He was tall, thin, with messy brown/black hair, hazel eyes, reads 24/7, and wears large round glasses. Today he was wearing a button up shirt, tie, and khakis. He was asleep at his desk, his book balanced on his chest, with his feet perched on top of the desk.
I signed in, and went to sit at the table in the far corner of the room where Eve and Ashlyn sat. I smiled and set my backpack on the floor. "Hey." I said tiredly. "Hey." They said in unison. We all seemed really tired, maybe detention does that to people.
I was ready to lay my head on the desk when ones of the jocks walked over. "Hello little girls." He said with a smirk. My face scrunched up, "What do you want." I asked. "Oh nothing." He said sitting down swiftly in a chair. He had black hair, blue eyes, and is the third most popular boy in the grade, also called Blake.
"Obviously you do, or else you wouldn't be here." Eve said with a raised eyebrow. He laughed, "Your funny." Okay, something's up. He wouldn't be over here if nothing was. "Let's ditch this place, come on." He said taking my hand and pulling me out of my seat. I smacked his hand, "No way creep. Now leave me alone." I said going to sit back down.
"It's fine though, Tide doesn't wake up too anything besides a book sale. Let's go, this place is boring." He tried more to convince me, "Back off! I'm not leaving so go away!" I yelled at him. He crossed his arms, "Fine then. BOYS! Get them and let's go." He said waving his hand. Before I could react I was thrown over someone's shoulder and carried out the door. I pounded on the guys back, and tried to kick him. I looked down the halls to see Blake having my friends carried as well. I narrowed my eyes and pounded harder on the guys back.
We ended up in the lunchroom, and I was dropped to the floor. Quickly I got to my feet and kicked him hard in the shins, he winced, glared at me, the walked back to the herd of jocks. "It's about time." I heard a familiar voice say from behind me. I turned to see Bree, Chrystal, and Rosie. "Where's the rest of your friends? Did they have something better to do than complement and obey you?" I asked sarcastically.
Looking at the group of boys, I scoffed. "So you need boys to do your bidding now? Looks like little Miss perfect isn't so good at getting things done on her own."
"Oh snap."
"Someone needs some ice for that burn."
"Ha, just got owned."
The jocks laughed at my comments, giving me a sense of accomplishment. Bree put her hand on her hip, "You can leave us now." She said waving them off. The boys dropped my friends, and left the room laughing, running, and tackling and punching each other. Stupid. "And to answer your question, they aren't needed for this situation." She said smiling. I crossed my arms, "So now I'm a situation?!" I asked irritated.
Rosie and Chrystal laughed, "Yeah, you are. The situation is, your popular and you still hand out with those." She motioned to Eve and Ashlyn, and they both huffed. "Eve and Ashlyn are people! Not "those". And I already told you I'm not going to be friends with you, EVER!" I said getting agitated. Bree laughed and flipped her hair. "Unless you want detention for the rest of your life here at this school, you will." She paused and smiled.
"Not to mention you don't have a choice." I looked at her confused. "What do you mean?" She snickered, "We control the school, and not to mention if your mom finds out your getting in trouble she will be upset. And then if something happens to your brother, Brandon, like say get kicked of the football and basketball team, he might be upset. Don't you think?" She asked innocently.
Now I was mad, "You wouldn't dare." She smirked. "Try me." I don't have a choice, mom will be infuriated if she finds out I hated this look she loves. She spent so much money to get me this way, it would be a waste. And if Brandon gets cut from the basketball, swim, track, lacrosse, football, and etc teams...he'll be ruined. Then there's my grades, I'm a straight A student. I can't let my grades fall or I'll be held back a grade or two. There's only one choice left.
"...Fine. I'll stop hanging out with my friends and be with you." I said sadly. Bree smiled and strutted out of the room with Rosie and Chrystal following her, like roaches to garbage. I turned to my friends and looked at them in defeat. "I'll text you guys later." I said shuffling out of the room. When we got back it was time to leave, being the nice person I am, I gently tapped Mr.Tide on the shoulder and woke him up. He smiled, patted my shoulder, gathered his bags, and left.
I was the last person left in the room. I went over to my seat, threw on my backpack, and headed out the door. The halls were empty, except for a janitor or two cleaning up the rooms. I pushed open the door, and stepped out side. It was warm, and still a little bright out. I jogged to my car, which was hard because of my stupid choice in shoes, and opened the door. I drove home while the song "Happy." played on the radio. What did I just agree to???
