Unlucky for them, I used to be on the track team. So I caught up to them quickly, "Why-why are you avoiding me?" I asked after pulling them to a stop. The looked at each other, "You said you wouldn't hang out with us anymore. You ditched us for the people you can't stand. Why would you do that?!" Ashlyn answered, with a question of her own. "Guys I didn't have a choice! If I didn't they would have ruined my life, and my brothers. And I'm not going to let that happen!" I exclaimed.
"But you didn't text us like you said you would. You didn't call to say I'm sorry. You didn't stand up for yourself! And we just can't deal with that kind of drama. Come on Ashlyn, let's go." Be said taking Ashlyn's hand and leading her away. Shocked, I walked glumly back to my bike. This isn't fair!
Why can't the girls at my school be nicer! Not one popular girl can be nice, because it's against Bree's rules. I wish I could transfer to another school! I thought petaling down the street and back home. I rode up onto the lawn, dropped my bike, and walked into the house. Mom was still in her room watching her marathon, Brandon was who knows where, and I am right here. Living and breathing shame.
Hopping up the steps, I closed the door to my room. Plopping on my bed I turned on my phone to see 1 text message waiting for me. It was from Bree.
Bree: My house. Tonight. Sleepover. Bring half your closet with you. 6:00. 4 Maple Creek.
I looked at the text bewildered, then checked the time. 5:30, I better hurry. Quickly I pulled out two suit cases and threw a little more than half my closet inside. Then packed a beach bag full of the normal stuff. Pajamas, a tooth brush, a hair brush, tooth paste, and etc... When I finished it was 5:45. I better leave now...but ask mom first.
I headed to her room and knocked on the door, she called me inside, and I gladly went in. She had the bowl of salad in her lap, sitting in bed, and with a remote directed at the TV. "Hey mom, can I go have a sleepover at a...friends house?" It was hard to call Bree a friend. "Sure. Who's house? And when?" She asked staring at the TV.
"Umm Bree's house, and at 6." That got her attention. "Who's Bree?" I tapped my foot. "A girl at school..." She smiled. "You made a friend! Great! Of course you can go! Hurry your going to be late!" She said shooing my out the door. I lugged my suit cases and beach bags into the car, and turned it on.
I read the text over, "4 Maple Creek." Then turned on the car and started driving. Maple Creek was right around the corner. I stopped the car, and got out. Her house was huge! It was four stories tall, white with giant windows, a large brown door, a gigantic flower garden, a water fountain, a bench next to it, green fresh grass, and a few statues along the sides of the house.
Pulling my bags out of my car, I stumbled up the clean front steps, and rang the doorbell. I heard footsteps inside, and a lady opened the door. She was middle aged, had curled blonde hair, red lipstick on, brown eyes, and a bright red dress on with matching heels and earrings. "Oh! You must be Rebecca. Please, come in!" She said opening the door wide, and stepping aside.
"Jessica." I mumbled under my breath, and heaving my bags in the house. "They're upstairs, enjoy your stay!" She said closing the door, and leaving me. The inside was just as beautiful as the outside, with elegant furniture, and a golf chandelier hanging from the ceiling.
It took my ten minutes to get everything to the top of the steps, and I carefully crept over to the door that I thought was Bree's. I had a pretty good idea it was her room, music was playing inside, and on the door was a pink glittery sign that read "Queen." I knocked on the door, and waited for someone to answer. When no one did, and after knocking four more times, I just decided to open the door.
I hurricane of pink, white, and glitter hit me, and I rubbed my eyes. Inside Bree, Rosie, and Chrystal were laughing and giggling. As I entered the music stopped, and Bree stood up. "Don't you knock?!" I looked at her strangely. "I did. Five times. And don't yell at me, I don't even want to be here!" I exclaimed.
She rolled her eyes, "Whatever."
