Two days later.
"What happened Mr.Brown?" The officer asked once again.
"Like I said before he was attempting to do something to Zonnique, so I beat his ass. Simple as that" I stated honestly leaning back in my seat.
"When you say do something, be more specific-"
"He was going to rape her! He did it plenty of times, and she never had the courage to tell anyone. He could be the one behind bars not me. But of course I get arrested because of my past right?"
The officer looked down at my files before clearing his throat. "Actually we were told you assaulted Shad Moss first, Mr.Brown"
I sighed and rubbed my head in frustration. "I only did it to protect Zonnique. She always goes through this bullshit with him. He's obsessed with her obviously!"
"Look in a few days we'll bring Ms.Pullins in to discuss everything. For now you will be incarcerated until further notice" he informed me and stood up.
Before I knew it, I was being escorted back to my cell. I groaned in frustration punching the wall. This is a bunch of bullshit. I try and be the hero but I get arrested once again. I laid on the bed, starring up at the ceiling. I really need to talk to Zonnique and see how she's doing. I feel bad for reacting to negatively but seeing him touching her made me cringe. She looked hopeless. I wasn't just going to let his bitch ass slide. He deserved what he got in my opinion. To be honest, there's no telling what I'd do to him if I saw him again. That's just real.

Zonnique
I scooped another spoonful of lucky charms in my mouth, starring at the television. Reruns of spongebob continued to play in my living room. Although I was away for awhile I got to keep my home surprisingly. I had to pay many of bills but it was worth it. It feels amazing to finally be back to my wife. But inside I feel bad because Chris was arrested once again for me. I just wish the authorities never got involved. He doesn't deserve to be behind bars for simply defending me. I got up from the couch and took my bowl in the kitchen. I dumped it in the sink and walked upstairs to my bedroom. To get my mind off things, I'm going to hang out with Ariana today. I haven't seen her in awhile and I miss my baby. August agreed to let her stay with since she's on spring break.
I got dressed within twenty minutes in something casual then curled my hair. I grabbed my car keys then headed downstairs. Since Cat was out looking for an apartment, I didn't have to worry about her being alone. I left out the house and hopped in my car. I put my seatbelt on before putting the key in the ignition.
Thirty minutes later I arrived in front of August's home. I went through the private gates which lead to the long driveway. I got out and threw my purse of my shoulder, walking up the stairs. I knocked on the door twice expecting to see Ariana. Instead it was August looking very handsome. He smiled at me sweetly before stepping aside.
"Hey Aug" I greeted and hugged him. His arms wrapped around me gently, embracing me. We hugged for at least two minutes before pulling away.
"Hey Zonnique, damn I missed you"
"I missed you even more! Thanks for always bringing Ari to see me sometimes"
He shrugged. "You know I'd never keep her away from you. She's all yours now"
We both laughed, walking into the living room. I spotted her hello kitty suitcases scattered all over along with other things. As I began to speak, my mouth closed immediately. There was my daughter sitting between another woman's legs. The unfamiliar woman continued to brush Ariana's kinky hair into a puff ball. I wrinkled up my eyebrows watching her.
"Uh.. excuse me, who are you?" I asked catching both her and my daughter's attention.
Ariana gasped before running up to me. "Mommy! You're finally here, look at my hair. Nicole did it!" she exclaimed pointing to her.
"Oh yeah.. Nique this is my uh girlfriend Nicole" August interjected awkwardly. It took alot in my not to roll my eyes and I didn't. Although we're not together, I don't want him with someone else. He's always been after me now he's moved on. Maybe it's time for me to do the same and let him go.
She smiled, getting up to shake my hand. Nicole was brown skin with a short red miley cyrus haircut. She had hazel eyes, full lips, and a slim but nice physique. Overall she was very pretty and seemed pretty nice.
"Nice to meet you Zonnique"
"Same" I replied before plastering a fake smile on my face.
"Mommy can we go now? I miss my room at your house and my-"
"Okay okay tiger," I laughed mushing her head playfully, "go wait in the car while I talk to your dad"
Ariana nodded before giving August a kiss on the cheek, then hugging him and Nicole. She skipped out the door with that puff ball just bouncing as she moved. I couldn't help but smile shaking my head.
"I'll leave you guys alone to talk" Nicole said and walked upstairs, mostly likely to his bedroom. That used to be our bedroom. I know I sound extremely jealous but that's how I feel.
Once August and I were alone, all we could do was stare at eachother. I had so much to say but I didn't know how to express it without sounding jealous.
"Zonnique what's wrong? I know you" he asked with a smirk.
I innocently shrugged my shoulder looking away. "Oh nothing..."
"It's about Nicole isn it? Well let me just say, I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. I thought i'd have a chance with you when you came back but I was too late. You don't understand how much you were on my mind," he explained causing me to unintentionally blush, "but I can't keep setting myself up for failure. You're not completely over Chris nor will you ever be. So I think its best for us to remain friends.."
OUCH. The "F" bomb kills me every time but it's for the best. I'm happy August is so honest and straight forward with me. He keeps it real twenty four seven and not to mention he's the best father ever. I don't know what I'd do without this guy.
"I agree but hopefully one day-"
"Let's not even go there. Just know you'll always be in my heart shawty, no matter what" August said pulling me in for another hug.
I smiled inhaling his intoxicating smelling fragrance. I actually feel alot better now that we're on the same page.
"I'll see you around Aug.."
"Yeah. Oh and we're going to talk more later, about you hiding stuff too" he added giving me a serious look. I knew he had heard about what happened.
"Oh gosh.. bye man!" I said and hurried out the door.

Next chapter will be mostly based on Zonnique, Ariana, & Cat. Oh yeah btw I don't know whether these chapters are short or not. I just write until I feel like it's enough... yaknow?
